Deciding on the first outfit of the school year, meeting up with your friends beforehand, reconnecting with kids away from the summer, getting lost finding classrooms, learning who the cool kids were, asshole new teachers.

But then, I skipped my first day.

What do you remember about YOURS?

I remeber it all to well....I was short fat very shy, and nervous as hell....the old potion of the school had 4 floors and seniors had a bad hbit of smacking the books from you as you trekked the stairs.....i was an easy target......

now 19 years later i am in better shape and all those "jocks" are fat and bald.....i am laughing my ass off now:D

Hm, I can remember being terribly shy going froma small parochial school into public school in the 9th grade. My best friend from parochhial school and I met up and walked to school. We were terribly intimidated by the sheer number of people and were glad to know each other. I did well, until another girl who had gone to parochial school came along and managed to pull the same shit that day she did when she'd been in 8th grade and me in 5th. She took over and bullied everyone involved and ran off dragging my best friend with her, leaving me alone and facing my first day without the company of my best (and pretty much only at the time) friend in that school.

Luckily, I managed to find another girl who had all the same classes I did and stuck with her til I was familiar with the school. Oddly enough, we grew into best friends within a month and we went everywhere together. I still talk to her often, and she's my daughter's godmother.

The most that I can remember of high school was hoping that my best friend and I were in one or more of my classes. And wouldn't you know, it never failed. We were in English class every year.

How could I forget? I felt so grown-up.

The came college it was the same thing.

Last month I hit 39. Less than a year to 40.

I feel like such a kid again! :)

My HS was enormous, really. Two buildings, 4 stories each. Seperate amitheatre that seated 2000. The buildings were across from one another, and I remember half my freshman classes were in each building. Our campus was park-like. Big oaks, lots of benches and a large brook that split it in two. It was something of a tradition for the upperclassmen to pick a few unfortunate freshman souls to get 'brooked'. To be 'brooked' meant simply enough to be picked up, and tossed over the bridge into the running water. Luckily, I was 'connected' enough to escape such a fate.

The shop teacher, for those in the know, would open up shop a couple hours after school, and teach us how to make really nifty bongs out of plumbing pipes, plastic, glass and such. I don't remember his name, make of that what you will.

I went to HS with Christina Ricci. Junior high as well. Skank.

Yes. I wore a hideous outfit I wish I could forget.

What is it they say about hindsight?

Tell! What time period was it? That makes all the difference.

Your outfit couldn't have been all that bad with all those guys staring at your uhm... "hindsight."

we had school uniform so it was ok ... i did feel pretty lost though it was a catholic school 3 miles away from my previous school and where i lived so i knew NOBODY ... and everyone else seemed to know everyone

i sat next to a girl in first class mearly because it was the nearest free seat and we became best friends for the whole 5 years of school and im still in contact with her 3 years after leaving :)

Long, Long Ago ....

:D I rember the joint we smoked before getting on the bus :D Still don't remember much else until the late 70's:confused: At my last reunion, everyone said we had A great time. Wish I could remember.....

I hated my first day of high school, i was scared, didn't really know anyone, everyone I did know made their own friends. I met up with this girl who i knew from grade school and basically became her lakie the whole school year, I remember dreading going back to school especially freshman friday.

I remember my first day in high school here in the U.S. I met alot of great people. Some of whom I still see once in awhile. Some of whom I wished I'd still see around town.

It's a miracle I graduated on time, because I rememebr very little about actually attending clases, but more about going at lunch with friends to go get high every day.

I know I didn't know where to find anything, and I was completly lost. I was nervous as hell, because I didn't know any of the teachers. Later that day, I was already chosen to run track at the end of the year, because the track team somehow knew I was captain of my JH team, so they came to me on the first day of school. That was pretty cool. But the rest of the day was scary as hell.

i loved high school..i had a great time....the first day of high school was just like the last day of middle school for me...same friends...same activites...the only thing different....the boys! :D

i remember, i was excited to a point then it wore off and was like oh joy more school, but once i met soe people and got into a little group, it wasnt that bad

in the twiglight of the 80's....I actually missed the first day of school, because I was away at a competition...the forever image conscious school made a big deal out of it when I finally showed up, and had an assembly. Which I was greeted by gasps from the student body.

ack! she's black!

So I became a fad for some, a museum oddity for others. They got used to me eventually.

Yeah i remember my first day of highschool. Got in a fight by 2nd period. What a way to start the school year off....lol

After all this time, still trying to forget it.:(
(Will not go into details.)
