I hope you aren't holding your breath. You haven't been able to do so in seven years of breathless Sisyphean effort.Nah, I think this may be a rare instance where he has a legit point. I'm fine waiting for a year of hard data, if only to make Vetteman/Rightguide look more ignorant.
The other (Shift) report covers only 90 days and relies on a worker survey. The Shift doesn’t make their survey available on their website so we can’t see the questions and responses. However, according to EPI, the survey failed to ask employees how their scheduling changed after the law went into effect. EPI also says the survey revealed that one in three respondents said they were involuntarily on a part time schedule instead of a desired full time schedule.Only one uses data from before the wage increase even happened.![]()
Gosh, the "Economic Policy Institute"? Never heard of 'em. Time to use my Google-fu!I don’t believe 3 months worth of questionable data from questionable sources is sufficient to draw meaningful conclusions. But if you if you like hanging your hat on that type of game, I’ll play along and share a more recent report from an organization called the Economic Policy Institute that sharply rebuts the reports from The Shift and its sister organization UC Berkeley Institute for Research on Labor and Employment. Their report shows that 4,400 fast food jobs have been lost (and at a faster rate than full service restaurants) this year, that fast food restaurants have raised menu prices by over 10%, and that 89% have reduced employee hours.

I’ll leave it to you to decide what you want to believe. I’m going to wait until there is more complete, unbiased data and analysis before reaching any conclusions.
I was holding my breath last night, that's for sure.I hope you aren't holding your breath. You haven't been able to do so in seven years of breathless Sisyphean effort.
It’s not “my think tank.” Neither of these reports are worth the pixels they’re displayed on.Gosh, the "Economic Policy Institute"? Never heard of 'em. Time to use my Google-fu!

It would appear that your "think tank" is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Berman and Company, the Beltway PR firm that shills for the National Restaurant Association.
In other words, you are countering my argument with essentially a cherry-picked press release. I'm glad you're gonna wait for "unbiased data" because the drivel you presented above is about as biased as they get.

Drunk guy upset facts didn't fit his narrative. Poor drunk guy. It’s not “my think tank.” Neither of these reports are worth the pixels they’re displayed on.
Did your debit card get declined because the price of eggs is too damn high?!?I was holding my breath last night, that's for sure.
I was at the grocery store late and heard people gagging one aisle over.....someone had shit his pants mightily.
I honestly thought that it might've been you stalking me.
There must be more than one think-tank called the Economic Policy Institute. This one is left-leaning.Gosh, the "Economic Policy Institute"? Never heard of 'em. Time to use my Google-fu!

My narrative is we don’t have the data and analysis to draw meaningful conclusions. Have another drink.Drunk guy upset facts didn't fit his narrative. Poor drunk guy.
Employment Policy Institute. There must be more than one think-tank called the Economic Policy Institute. This one is left-leaning.
Once you sober up, you'll see there's plenty of data.My narrative is we don’t have the data and analysis to draw meaningful conclusions. Have another drink.
I'm not buying what you're selling. It’s not “my think tank.” Neither of these reports are worth the pixels they’re displayed on.
Sorry, not buying PR by three sociology professors covering 90 days with no information on a survey you haven’t even seen won’t cut it. Come back when you have credible data.I'm not buying what you're selling.
You shitposted it, you own it.
Not going to let you "Rightguide" something after being called out ("I never said I BELIEVED what I posted, I was merely passing it along!")
And I'm not buying your 'neither of these reports" grumbling either. I presented government-issued FACTS (which we both agree could be a small sample) and you attempted to counter with some gussied up PR firm press release.
That's YOU engaging in "apples and oranges".
We should let the political board decide who had the more legitimate stance.
You being a devoted member of the "Party of Poop" we know you must have rushed to the scene to franticly fan the wafting fumes and savor the result while it lasted. We've all read your book.I was holding my breath last night, that's for sure.

You were frantically trying to make a poop reference and stepped right in it.franticly

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data show that between September 2023, when California governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 1228, and June 2024, Golden State fast food employment dropped from 570,909 jobs to 564,743. That’s a loss of 6,166 jobs, or 1.1 percent, according to an analysis by the nonprofit Employment Policies Institute.
What pretty graphs you have posted! "Synthetic Control Methods" and "Difference-in-Difference"? Sounds like exciting new frontiers in getting the results desired! Would you please link to where you obtained these bold new methods so that we unwashed masses can educate ourselves on this bold new methodology? Some more recent data. The bill was signed in September 2023 and went into effect in April, 2023. Fast food prices are rising faster and employment is falling faster than other states.
