This is them, in a picture taken recently. The good news is there might be a sequal to this underappreciated classic. You get extra bonus points if you can figure out which one was Chunk.

(by the way, Sloth has passed on. RIP)

For the longest time The Goonies has been among my favorite movies. You know, I think I remember hearing that Sloth was dead awhile back but had forgotten about it till now (if that makes any sense). I actualy got into Superman comics for awhile because of his scene with the 'S' T-shirt. Damn, that's a great movie.

This one scene always cracks me up:

Francis Fratelli: Tell us everything! Everything!

Chunk: Everything.... OK! I'll talk! In third grade, I cheated on my history exam. In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max's toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play. In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog...When my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I got nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out...But the worst thing I ever done -- I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, t-t-then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa -- and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. I never felt so bad in my entire life!

Jake Fratelli: I'm beginning to like this kid, Ma.

Ahh...... what a classic. :)

I loved the goonies, it's one of those movies you could watch over and over again and not get tired of. Funny as hell too........

Im happy because it comes out on DVD soon. Yeehaw!!

Yes, the purple girl is Andy, she changed quite a bit.

I'm a goonie girl, too. I just showed this movie to Ambro for the first time a couple of years ago. It's great!!! A sequel would be cool, too.

You know, somehow... some way... I managed to miss the Goonies. Nope, I've never seen it. Not once!

Everybody I know says that it's a great movie... I've just never been able to catch it on TV or video!

I suppose I should start looking for it. I've always been curious...

Yes you should!!!! Its a classic, you don't know what your missing. Go buy a copy at Target it will be well worth it I promise:)

I liked it, too. It has a goofy quality. But, you know what? It's still a stinker.

The sound is awful, particularly the first third of the movie before they go underground. The engineering is terrible. You can barely make out what anyone's saying without having to pay very, very close attention. And the the ambient background noise is muddy.

And once the do go underground the lighting becomes substandard. It looks like my Dad shot it on his Super 8. Techincally the movie's a mess.

And the script, despite some ocassional funny stuff, is full of IMPORTANT MOMENTS that go nowhere and REVELATIONS that are dull. Not to mention the idiotic booby-traps (Which were set for WHAT reason? You want to hid treasure? Bury it. You don't make intricate booby traps along a trail -- and THEN MAKE A MAP!)

Yeah, I know it's for kids, but that doesn't mean you have to treat them like idiots. I read "Treasure Island" and "Kidnapped" as a kid, and they were far more involving and exciting.

And isn't naming the pirate "One-Eyed Willie" just a little, well, uh, you know....

I think I liked it because it always makes me think of other movies and stories that I really do like, like "Raiders" and "Gunga Din" and "Horatio Hornblower". So I watch and enjoy "The Goonies", but all the while I'm wishing it were a LOT better.

The only thing that could have improved the movie was if they had killed off Corey Feldman.
