Please take a moment to remember those who gave their lives on the beaches of Normandy 70 years ago today!

My uncle (moms oldest sisters husband) fought there that day and was lucky enough to survive. He lived with painful memories his whole life from that experience and would never talk about it.
He pasted just a couple of years ago at 97 yrs. of age. Came back and had 6 children and over 20 grandchildren and some great grand children.
Just breaks my heart thinking of all those that gave their lives that day.

I have been to Normandy to visit my grand uncle's grave ( grandfather brother) who served 1st battalion, Ulster rifles Paras . Died 7th june 1944.
Both the most awe inspiring and emotional thing I have ever experienced.

I knew of a gentleman, he passed away a few years ago, that was there on the beaches of Normandy. He never talked of his service but you could see it in his face, the pain, the sorrow, the anguish. He was a quiet man and it is sad to say, that he has been forgotten by a lot of people.

My grandmother's sister's fiancé is forever entombed in the USS Arizona.

Let's not forget these service men and women that have served our country, defended us, and gave the biggest sacrifice of all so that we can live to breathe another day.

Just watched a news show on the 70th Anniversary of DDay. Did a wonderful story on the Lancaster bombers which flew a bombing raid on the German installations to prepare for the invasion. So many gallant young men never came back.
