Religion?

No, I was just stopping by to see how my story was going (slowly)--and noticed that you're still bossing people around and calling anyone who doesn't agree with you a troll.

Religion is just one of those dumb topics--especially for a discussion board like this. No one changes their mind and everyone tries to make everyone else believe what they do. If this is the Author's Hangout (which, in your case, it doesn't appear to be), they could be off writing a story.

But talk and bossing others around is about all you do here, right, honeybunch?

Try that outside the USA and the laughter will be heard in Heaven itself.
That and the word 'Dinosaur' was not in the English lexicon when the Bible was translated. Look up Job 41 and whatever the Greek word used was translated as 'Leviathan' which could mean almost anything large.

And the plans for the Ark were found - where?
That page explains that the word "circle" means something raised or rounded or spherical-- which is pretty much exactly what a "circle is not. This redefinition of the word is supposed to prove that the Bible has always said that the world is round.

Some horrific versions of Christianity have developed in the USA. :(

Only 96 posts, and it speaks as if it's known you a long time, Stella; perhaps we have a new troll alt in our midst...

"It's" been around two years longer than you have, Tio. Some of us sit back and read the discussions mainly. That can mean we actually see more than those of you who are posting.

But, whatever. You have meaningless topics to argue over.

Seems we reached the level of meaninglessness that appeals to you, then, since you seem to have come out over it. And have you really convinced yourself that voyeurs know more about sex than those who actually engage in it?

Wow, a genuine lurker! *hands you your unicorn horn and rainbow*

ETA: Your posting history is rather illuminating... When was the last time you made a positive comment to, or about, anyone?

Come out over it? Hardly. I have a recent story here. Have been checking on it and the forum over the last week or so--and have posted elsewhere on the forum during that time. This thread just popped out as neverending and never progressing. I come and go--with this thread and responses like yours being a reason why I don't dwell here too long or too often. If you'll buzz off me, I'll just leave you to your "I've nothing better to do than bore you with my self-absorbing religion mumbojumbo." And I'll leave Ms. Stella to her favorite pastime to telling us what we all can think--and that we're trolls if we don't.

And you don't know anymore about my sexlife than I do about your's, do you? (But it makes for a nice nasty attack, doesn't it?)

I think post #15, of this one, which was a quite recent post of mine, fits the bill of being a positive suggestion for the problem posed.

So, anyone who doesn't agree with you, you're going to try to hound off the boards, right? That seems to be so you.

That's OK, this forum doesn't need to be as much a part of my life as you need it to be yours.

My apologies. I did not state that the "stories" referred to my stories with information to the contrary of what the bible says, and that that information is verified by the bible itself in great part, as well as objective history.

Now I'm confused... ;)

Yes, the Bible calls the 'heart' the thinking organ - but it it referring to the spiritual heart, not the physical one. There is a big difference there.

Here's a few:

The Earth revolves around the Sun.

On the first day of creatioin, God is said to have created the heavens and the earth. That could not be for there was nothing else for the earth to orbit around. With it's weight, might it have simply drifted around aimlessly without an anchor to hold it gravitationally?

One of the most stunning videos was that the Ark was very tip-resistant - you could tip it almost 90 degrees on it's side and it would not flip over and sink! In fact, many modern aircraft carriers today has similar proportions as the Ark did.

Tip resistant wasn't the ark's problem as stated in the bible. The problem is how it was supposed to keep from sinking, and how to hold all the animals along with food for a year, according to one bible site, and nearly so by my calculations (taken from time frames given in the bible), along with food for all as directed by God.

What was supposed to fit in the ark are, among many, many others:

Aardvarks, alpacas, alligators, Elephants, Antelopes, armadillos, Avocets, baboons, badgers, bats, beavers, bees, bengal tigers, big horn sheep, bison, black bears, black birds, black mambas, blackbirds, blue birds, blue jays, bllue racers, bobcats, Bongoes, butterflies, Boa Constrictors, Bonobos, brown bears, Camels, Canaries, Capybaras, Cardinals, Caribou, Caimans, Cameleons, Cheetahs, Chickadees, Chicken, Chimpanzees, Chincillas, Chipmunks, Coatimundies, Cobras, Cockatiels, Cormorants, Cows, Coyotes, Cranes, Crickets, Crocodiles, Cuckoos, deer, Diamond back rattlers, dingos, dogs, Doves, Duck billed platypus, Ducks, Egrets, Emperor Penguins, Emus, Ermines, Foxes, Frogs, Herrons, Hyenas, Eagles, Elk, Falcons, Ferrets, Finches, Fireflies, Flamingos, Flies, Frigate birds, fruit flies, Garden snakes, Gazelles, Geckos, Geese, Gibbons, Gila Monsters, Giraffes, Gnats, Gnus, Goats, Gophers, Gorillas, Grasshoppers, Grizzlies, Groundhogs, Grouse, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Hogs, Hedgehogs, Hippos, Hogs, Horned Frogs, Hornets, Horses, Howler Monkeys, Ibis, Iguanas, Impalas, Jackels, Jackamars, Jackasses, Jaguars, Kangaroos, Kingfishers, Kiwis, Koalas, Komodo Dragons, Kookaburas, Larks, Lemmings, Lemurs, Leopards, Lions, Lizards, Llamas, Loons, Lynx, Macaques, Macaws, Mallard Ducks, Mandarins, Martens, Meerkats, Mice, Minks, Monkeys, Moose, Moles, Mongooses, Marmots, Martens, Mule Deer, Mountain Goats, Musk Oxen, Muskrats, Nighthawks, Ocelots, Opossums, Orangutans, Orioles, Oryx, Osprey, Ostrich, Otters, Owls, Pandas, Parakeets, Parrots, Partridges, Peacocks, Pecarries, Pelicans, Penguins, Perrigrine Falcons, Pidgeons, Plovers, Polar Bears, Porcupine, Prarrie Chickens, Prarrie Dogs, Pronghorn Antelopes, Puffbirds, Pythons, Quail, Quetzal, Rabbits, Raccoons, Rails, Rams, Rats, Rattlesnakes, Ravens, Reindeer, Rhea, Rhesus Monkeys, Rhinocerous, Roadrunners, Robins, Salamanders, Sandpipers, Scorpions, Scrub Jays, Seagulls, Sea Lions, Seals, Sheep, Shrews, Sidewinder Rattlers, Skinks, Skunks, Sloths, Squirrels, Starlings, Storks, Swallows, Swans, Swifts, Tamarin, Tapirs, Tasmanian Devilis, Terns, Tigers, Toads, Tortoises, Turkeys, Vultures, Wallabies, Walruses, Warthogs, Wasps, Weasels, Wildebeests, Wildcats, Woverine, Wolves, Wombats, Woodpeckers, worms, Yak, Zebras.

There are many others, and how it kept from sinking is the big question with all these animals and their particular foods for a year.

Impossible.

You'll see Green alligators and long necked geese
Humpy back camels and chimpanzees
Rats and bats and alleycats, but sure as you're born..
You'll never ever see no unicorn!

So, if we are gonna derail the thread, why not do it with a doozy like...

Imagining there is a god, do you suppose he/she/it has had sex?

As for pointless threads, I think its marvelous the way they can open up ideas you normally wouldnt ponder on your own.

Greek, roman and norse gods had lots of sex. The christian god apparently not it seems. Just makes ya go hmmm...(poor god lol)

For those serious about religion, I apoligize for any offense. I truly am pondering the thought of a sexless god, its a bit unsettling in a way.

low on the allegory, eh, "glory?" The comment didn't have to do with sex as much as with your inane view that by not participating in the discussions here you somehow knew more than those who did. Reminds me of a student I once had who argued that since I admitted I didn't know everything about H. erectus, he would be more correct than me because he knew nothing, and therefore couldn't be wrong.

Nice try; too clever by one-half. Better luck next time you leave off lurking.

religion is the opiate of the masses.

On FACEBOOK earlier an old friend of mine posted an atheist cartoon disparaging the worlds religions as dens of terrorists scheming to slaughter everyone, while atheists are pleasant people more interested in good wine and conversation.

I commented that Stalin, Hitler, Mao and many others were atheists, and folks are welcome to do the math.

The difference is Hitler claimed to be a Christian and used the church to sway the masses.

As the OP I started it mainly because I am undergoing an evolution in my "spiritual" beliefs. Do I think that people are going to change how they believe due to a message board topic? I am not that vain. However, if people have an open enough mind to read what people post both for and against the topic, is it not possible that someone my have their beliefs changed in the future as a part of what was discussed here? I didn't and don't want this to end up in a name calling thread. But a discussion about religious questions where people can talk about them.

I few years ago I was one of those people that defended Christianity and the Bible until my last breath. However, due to some soul searching and actively researching some of the arguments in threads like this, I realized I was defending some things that were not defensible.

I don't WANT to change people's beliefs. I WANT people to not be closed minded on all topics. Read what people are posting. If they are posting something that is blatantly stupid or wrong call them out on it but use facts to prove them wrong. The day we stop learning is the day we die.
