A tall sultry, femme fatale - type woman moves into a neighbourhood and sets herself up as a marriage counsellor. Her true intention is to supplement the meagre income she derives from this with extensive blackmailing after seduction of both the husbands and wives. During the story it becomes clear that she is an itinerant in this "business", changing location when things become too "hot". She is expert both at finding enjoyment for herself and perhaps setting up the wife of one couple with the husband from another and vice versa. The money flows in large amounts from her threats to expose matters.

Maybe the story follows her adventures with one specific couple. I think perhaps this may have been suggested before but I've had no luck finding it.

As I said, it sounds very familiar but I've had no luck finding it either as a story or on SI.

A very hot idea. It appeals to me that the MC is female... but that's also why few of the overwhelming male membership here will touch it. They tend to prefer the male to make the running.

I like it. After earning trust, and learning secrets, she can spring her "trap"... first to get a little extra money, then to keep adding to the chaos. Add in the small-town mayor, police chief, local doctor, school committee chair, principal, etc... and the chaos could rise to the "town politics" level too.

Yes, the whole community could find itself "revolving" around her counselling sessions, each person thinking that they are a unique case and each spouse specifically being kept in the dark about his/her other half's shenanigans. I definitely like the idea that she is bi, so as to bring this about.

You're not the only one!

I’d definitely “touch” that 👈

This is a terrific idea and one which could have several angles to it, not to mention prequels, sequels and spin-offs of various kinds. Really good to see some improvement on the utter shlock which this board has suffered from in recent times. It's getting so desperate now that it's hardly worth visiting the site.

Love it!
Write it now.

You can say that again. Even just a year ago it was much better. I think one or two of the leading lights have left Lit. Had at least one valedictory email message to that effect.

I would only read it if the outcome has this MC murdered in a fit of rage.

There's always someone who insists on happy endings and cavalry riding to the rescue. Life's not like that.

There's plenty of room in fiction for anti-heroes and "evil" characters. They may get their comeuppance at the end of the tale... but then there's also plenty of room for "twists in the tail".

Careful what you wish for.

I suspect the mod concerned is one whom I've seen behaving in a less than reasonable manner towards you on a different board...
