As I look out over the world this New Years Eve, I see much that is cause for trepidation, and relatively little that inspires any genuine desire to celebrate. I see poverty, joblessness, and homelessness spreading like a cancerous blight upon the land, and indeed the entire world. At the same time, the corruption and cronyism of big businessmen and politicians (Enron was Bush's biggest campaign contributor, and his regime is stuffed with Enron and other oil co. execs), as they obscenely revel in their vast unearned riches, provides an ironic counterpoint to the sufferings of literally billions worldwide. The imminent threat of war, with all its death, devastation, cruelty, lies and propaganda, and deliberate fanning of hatreds and prejudices of all sorts, hangs in the air like the pallid ghost of the dead hand of the past. We were supposed to be more enlightened than this by now. I see that a gang of criminal madmen have hijacked humanity, and are galloping it off into a dark unknown future of unimaginable frightfulness.

Tonight I will party, try to have a good time, probably drink more than I should, maybe even get laid-- but my heart will not be in it.

Celebrate that there's far less starvation than ever in history now. Celebrate that when tyrannical dictators in Africa, Asia and South America screw up their economies and cause starvation, that we've grown enough food to tide them through. Celebrate that new medical treatments and drugs are being developed every day that enable people to live longer and better lives than ever before. Be thankful that we're having small political squabbles (war on terrorism) and not big ones like World War two. Be thankful that theres more opportunity in the United States in this decade than there has ever been before. Be thankful that you have family that loves you and that you can talk to them easily whenever you want with technology thats been developed and made inexpensive over the past 50 years.

I know that you don't think much of our current President, but he's doing a lot of good things for our country. We're not besieged by violence on a daily basis (we're not having war on our land), we're not inches from malnutrition, we have an economy that's less vibrant that it was two or three years ago, but is still more vibrant in this decade than it has been in any previous decade.

There's a lot to be thankful for and to celebrate. Go to it.

Have a Happy New Year Red...after all, you're alive, breathing, fairly healthy and you've got friends.

Cool AV Mr. Schmidt/Nicholson/Heavy.

Happy New Year to you too.

Happy New Year to everyone here.

Happy New Year to you too, LTGR. And to A Desert Rose, and Moon Wolf, and p p man, and Coolville, and Don K. Dyck, and Rex1960, and Drake and Perky Baby, and . . .

I am personally looking forward to a new year full of exploiting my employees, and supporting the caitalist economy of my country!

I should, maybe even get laid-- but my heart will not be in it.

Put yer dick in it, not your heart.

Commies.

Redwave:
Find a woman, corrupt her and then exploit her in the commie tradition.
After that, find out where the DUI checkpoints are, get really tanked up, and drive through them as fast as you can.
Oh, forgot, you probably don't have a car.
Well, happy new year anyway.
Ham
P.S.: I'm getting laid tonight, and my heart (and everything else) will be in it.

Believe it or Not.........

I can actually believe this statement. Your a shit-stirring conservative republican, but I'm glad to see your heading for enlightenment.
