DISREGARD: Referencing song titles or lyrics in stories?

Sorry folks. I posted a question that I had posted years ago and forgot. Just found it in my searches. Sorry.

If you include more than two lines of song lyrics or poetry or more than 50 words of a prose work of at least 500 total word, you are at copyright violation risk, yes. Whether anyone owning the lyrics is going to find that you have used more than custom counsels or is going to sue you if they find out is a remote possibility. But, yes, you will be violating someone's copyright if you do it.

Titles have no protection under copyright. (Some are trademarked, but most arent). So you can cite a song title to your heart's content.
