Did some creature say Halloween Poetry?! Yes! I do a halloweenie poetry contest every year. It's not ready or on my site yet but who cares! Write dark humor. Think dark thoughts. Dark erotica. Yeah, I like that too.

Poetry Challenge: Who's Afraid of the Dark?

Dark humor or Dark erotica (what's dark erotica? sucking necks?)

No rules on style or length

Must mention at least one famous monster/movie/or memorable line from a horror movie or book

Oh and Eve? What about illustrated stuff? Is that ok, or would trying to judge illustrated versus non-illustrated be too incongruent (you know apples and oranges or, more appropriately, pumpkins and candy corn)?

Ange, I'm working on the habit halloween issue now. I'd love to see some illustrations. You do fantastic stuff.

I think I'll go write a Halloween poem now. I see me swooping out of the sky and biting my ex's neck... but he doesn't taste good. So I leave him at a soup kitchen where really old vampires gather, but they don't want him either... Well, I'll work on it.

Oh! Oh! I'm so excited! I started at 4:00pm exactly. It is now 5:06. I have new rules...

1) get serious or give it up!
2) get disciplined- either write or don't- no more piddling
3) no more than 1 hr at a time w/o a break

...and I have a great one going!! I even set a pattern... 10, 8, 9, 7 and then over. And it's working!!

but its about 2 little boys and I don't know yet if they die gruesome deaths or live to tell it! I'm pretending Stephen King is peeking over my shoulder... and he must be cuz I am freezing and shivering!! What fun! I DO love serendipity!

Forget the vampires. How about if you bring your ex and I'll bring mine and we'll just smack their heads together like Moe did with Larry and Curly when they were being especially stupid or annoying? I know it has nothing to do with Halloween, but think how much fun it would be.

And and far as scary movies go, well I must say that the scariest movie I saw in recent memory was the Pokemon movie--and believe me I was dragged kicking and screaming to it. It's ok, the dialogue was pretty incoherent anyway, so I doubt I could quote it.

Can this poem be for juveniles? It can still be dark horror... does it have to have erotica in it? Will a cautionary tale work? Is anyone even looking at this thread??
