Redundancy

I already posted this thread in the GB, but it didn't work out. So I guess you could say that this thread is also a redundant thing... Anyway, things that are redundant that make me a little bit happy inside:

Street names like Boulevard RD, or Avenue HWY.There is one of these where I live. Actually, on Boulevard RD, there is a culdesac called Boulevard RD LP. A bit much.

Books with the word "book" in their titles (i.e. The Book of Magic). As if the fact that it is indeed a book were in question.

When people say you are over-exaggerating. I HATE it when people say this. 'Nuff said.

Acronyms that seem to inspire people to repeat words without them knowing it (like when they say "I want a NOS system." Nitrous Oxide System system).

... And lots more I'm sure... Anyone else got some better ones?

I'm not sure if it fits snugly into your framework. But, a few that I notice...which don't really tickle my interest as much as they mock it...are:

- the term "irregardless."
- using "might" and "could" one, after the other. "He thought he might could go on sunday."
- the phrase "some of the" followed by any -est. "Those were some of the biggest houses I'd ever seen."

I have heard that there was a court case saying that if you are in a turn only lane, other drivers must assume you are turning, even if your blinker isn't on.

I personally have trouble when people say NIC card (Network Interface Card card). Being the senior technician, My correcting of the interns carries a little value, and is fun.
