Thanks! It's been a fun experience for all of us. Yesterday we put out a squirrel feeder and 4 baby squirrels, including Speedy have used it. Speedy also still knows me. I went out again today and made "chirping" and "kissy" noises. He popped out of the tree and looked at me. I put my hand out and he climbed on board. :D

It was very cool. He climbed all over me. Nestled onto my chest for a moment, then went climbing again... on me, before jumping from my arm back to the tree, a small distance of just 1 1/2 feet, but not bad for a little tyke of approx 7 weeks.

I do believe however that mommy squirrel and/or more babies have perished. The tree now reeks of a decayed animal of some sort and blow flies are appearing near one of the entrances the squirrel babies are using. There are several holes in this tree, and we've seen them using them all or at least all that we are aware of.

I figure Speedy will continue to recognize me if I go out every day and say hi. The true test if his memory holds me in any high regard will be when we come back from our 2 week vacation in June.
 
i say this with tongue firmly place in my cheek. it's a good thing that squirrels are not marsupials or your friend would be diving down your shirt. I know i would if i were a squirrel ;)

Do you blame him for nestling? I certainly don't! If Speedy knows what is good for him, he couldn't forget you! I love squirrels, they're pretty cute. Also, I completely enjoy your avatar update, you probably know that already, but well, I couldn't not say it! :kiss: :rose:

It was a pleasant day. Hubby made two cakes because for the first time in a long time my family was coming over for it. I got my garden plowed too, so that was a nice gift. :D

It's tilled once, one more time and it'll be ready for plantin.

:kiss: :kiss: It's okay. :) It was a good day.

Speedy is slowly growing more wild, which is good for him, sad for me. He comes out of the tree now and peeks at me when I call his name, or make "kiss" noises. The other squirrel that is similar to him in color is very skittish of me, but both of them are eating like small horses. :)

Sadly though we have not seen the other two babies in three days. The two "almost" Albino ones were also the two most frail of the four. We do believe they were probably picked off by a predator, simply because they were eating and climbing quite easily, so I don't believe it was starvation or malnutrition that claimed them.

Sounds like it was a beautiful day all around. :rose:

It's been a long week, my blood pressure spiked. I know I create half of the stress myself but it's never been like this. So I went on bed rest for a few days. :D

I'm hoping it's better now!! Take care of yourself! :kiss: It was a good day and this week has been a good week too. Lots of gardening done, and more to do.
