What does it all mean? Was just reading another post and have zero clues as to what the heck any of them mean! Some things on this site as an author I just don't get... like "key words." How are they important? I've yet to find a place to look for a story using "key words."

Okay, so I'm just a site challenged newbie and would be thrilled if someone could explain some of those things to me! Among them, how to just list my story by name in my signature, not just copying and pasting.. Thanks -Amber

The H are for Hot, a story with a 4.5+ rating. E is for Editor's Choice.

Edit: About keywords. If you go to The Search and turn on the advanced feature you can search stories by keywords. Also at the end of stories are keywords and clicking on one will show you all stories using that keyword.

red H = 10 votes or more and a vote average of 4.5 or "hot"

Green E - Editors choice (laurel, Manu, whoever thought it was amazingly good)

Blue W -WINNER! competition winner.

key words help you to search for a story or at least that's the theory :)

Get the search thing.. but where EXACTLY does one go here to type in the search words? *s* thanks.

To get the ae in the link.

Go to edit sig. copy the link for your story. click on the ball with the two links of chain in front. That is to insert a link. Paste your story link there and click ok. then type the name of your story. It should appear in the highlighted part of the copied link. got to preview post and check to see if it's the right link and that it works.

I hope this helps.

No, I've never used the search on here. I have enough trouble with everything else.

I do know it's under the advanced functions in search or so I've been told. Heck I can't even get the key words to take in my older stories.

Click on the link to the search page in my first post. On that page, just to the right of the big "Search" button, is an option called "Enable Advanced Search". Click it, and it will open up more search options. One of these option is called "Search Only:" use that pulldown and select "Search Story Tags". Also if you want you can chose to search in only certain specific categories.

And there you go. You can search romance stories related to the beach, or maybe exhibitionism stories related to a mall or maybe a lesbian story with masturbation, etc. It's pretty much the only way I browse stories. I'll suddenly have the urge to read a story happening in say, a club, and I go search for that tag.
