I love reading. I love reading new stories by new faces. We all do!
That's what this thread is about.

In an attempt to bring new writers into the spotlight, I'd like to invite you to go out and read.

Read threads by people you don't know or haven't read before.

And then, come and post a link here with a brief, non-spoiler filled, comment about the type of SRP it is so we can all enjoy!

(That said, if you have found a thread by writers you already know that you think we're all missing out on I think it should really go here! I'd like to keep this for 'new faces' as much as possible. But we all like hearing about good threads no matter who they're by so please...share your findings in one place or the other!)

RULES

1) Whenever you suggest a thread for others to read, please PM the writers involved so they know you've enjoyed their thread and let them know they might find feedback and the like here - link to the thread, or your post, and invite them to check it out! (Hopefully they'll stick around for a little while too!)

2) This is a place to encourage and recommend. Not everything that is recommended will be to everyone's personal tastes. If you think from the description you won't like it, maybe give it a wide berth or look for other things by the same author if you want to find out more. Keep snarky comments to yourself please. :rose: On the other hand, if you like something for goodness' sake say so!

3) There's no limit on the amount of threads you can post about. But there is a limit of one thread per post so we can all keep track - to that end, I will be making an index so whenever you feel like having something to read, you can check the list and see what takes your fancy.

Happy reading!

Awesome idea Brit. You got my support on this.

Great Idea but what about returning writers? where do they fall in old or renew?

I think if they're new to you or a writer we've not seen posting in the Lounge, they can go in here. Otherwise, put a link in Veroe's thread.

Well, I went prowling looking for a couple of writers that I had no idea about to put a post in this thread, and get it going the way it was intended.

Well, I found a thread by Third Magus and AmandaAce, called Strange Days in Dulakhan. This started out in a very interesting manner, and it caught me very quickly. The tale centres around Captain Kasar, and one of his troops, Sana. The interesting twist, beyond the fact that Sana is the only woman in the military force under the captain's command, but she is also the Heir Apparent to the Empire of Dulakhan, doing the heir's traditional period of military service.

There are other factors that create tensions in the tale, but I will not spoil it for the readers.

But they both write very well, can carry the story equally, while shining a light on the thoughts and feelings of both characters in the process. They are just into the third page, yet I am only about half way through the first. But both of these two are well worth looking into if this is an example of the normal fare.
