Honestly, "Hi. How's your night going?" still sounds like kind of a pickup coming from some random guy that said woman doesn't know. If you want to get to know a woman on a forum, post in sections she tends to visit. That's the best way to get her attention. I don't mean stalking her or anything. Just contribute to the topics and have fun with it. After you gain her respect, I'd say a PM like that will probably get a much more positive response.

Seriously, I get a lot of bullshit pm's. Tonight there was one asking if I had daddy/daughter fantasies and did I want to chat. I ignored it. But I get ones that are just "how's your night going" and my reaction is exactly like infinity706 describes. If I don't know somebody - more often than not have never seen the name - then I ignore it. For one thing, they obviously know nothing about me, because they're trying to hook up with a married lesbian. For another...I'm just not interested in chatting. Period. I talk on the boards here. I shouldn't have to put "no cyber please" in my signature. People should have a little respect and get to know me before contacting me privately.

Pms are great but i dont like demanding ones or ones from guys sending me pics requests. Like I dont mind friendly pms but I always get pms from old married guys or immature guys masturtyping (masturbating while typing, you can just tell from the dialogue, wierd i know!) me

The worst ones I get are from men pretending to be women, like its just sad! Like what do you achieve from pretending to be the other sex?

But yeah I do love seeing that little box in the middle of the screen and someone likes my sig or a comment that I made or a pic I put up!

Not really. Most of the messages I get come from inarticulate role players who want to have cyber sex, and I'm not into that. They also tend to have pathetically low post counts (< 100) and what they have to say is often trite. Makes me wonder if they're a real person or another spam bot.

Well, yes sort of. But the ones I get the most (actually make that exclusively) are these comments about my AV or what I've written under it, or occasionally about a comment I made. Just like a one off "hey like your AV." I don't mind that but I made the mistake of assuming the person wanted a reply, and that it was just their way of sort of breaking the ice. So I'd write back with chit chat kind of thing... and she ignores me. So that has me thinking I've said something wrong and going "way to go I've blown it again."

But now I realise they literally just wanted to comment on my AV. And that's all. I think that's totally weird to be honest, but that's just the way it is.

Now I ignore PMs like that.
