I got a message yesterday from someone saying the following:

"Check out our new dating site at http://forum.literotica.com/Dating theres millions of active members there daily looking for matches, love and hookups too"

Anyone else get this? obviously isn't actually from Literotica, and the site leads to a different address that does nothing. I even tried c+p'ing the address it and the actual address for the link doesn't exist either.

If it was a scam of some kind then the link would work and would take me somewhere dodgy but it just leads nowhere. I was thinking that this was probably made by a non English speaker (based on the grammatical issues) who set up some bots that automatically create accounts on various sites to message people on there and link them to an altered version of that site's URL with "dating" added in just to see if they could draw people in with it. But again the link goes nowhere dodgy so I really don't get it.

I got the same message yesterday

I got the same message yesterday

I got the message at 11:48 GMT, which is the same time that the sender was apparently last on. If more than a handful of people say that they got it at the same time then we can pretty much confirm it's a bot.

Placing a personal ad will not bring this spam to the attention of the site owners. You may wish to contact one, or both, owners directly in a PM.

What!? You mean i wont find millions of active members there daily looking for matches, love and hookups too.... Bummer.

Now I feel left out, the the Bot doesn’t find me worthy. Damnit.

That was never the intention of the thread, I assumed that a lot of people would automatically contact the site owners and it would get sorted from there. I made the thread out of curiosity, and to see if any interesting information regarding the sender or content could be gleamed by hearing about it from other people which could then potentially be used in the future.

I got several of the same messages from some bot. Got me all excited at first that I had a PM. Lol. I put the user names on ignore list and have not gotten any since then.

I also got this spam message. Its not the first time so this time I knew what to do.

I forwarded it to Laurel and she later replied saying that the account had been banned and the messages deleted.

When you receive spam fwd the message to Laurel.

Uggg:rose:

I received that message when I first turned on the messaging feature here. I received it again from the same name (within a hour), so I had placed the name on my ignore list. Being new, I did not know any better.

Interesting, it shows that not only have they been botting on here before but it's also not a very sophisticated program if it's targeting the same person multiple times. It's likely that there was a particular requirement that someone needed to meet in order for the bot to message them, and you met it twice in a short span. I was away from lit for weeks and it only messaged me after i'd been back a few days in a row so I could have done something to set it off then.

Or it's random, no real way to know and I suppose it doesn't matter either way.
