do people here actually want to see male pics because it does not appear that way. lol anyone wanna show appreciation for a male? maybe encouragement..

Think about it. Mostly men on the boards period. And women in general aren't as visual. And they aren't all desperately falling over each other to get your attention. It's pretty logical that male photos get a sliver of the replies of female photos.

Men can have very successful threads, but most have completely unrealistic expectations. You can't post a pic or two...leave for a few days and expect thousands of followers. To maintain a very active thread...you have to be very active. This is actually true for women as well, but female threads to generate a lot of replies initially, but if the poster isn't invested; even a female thread can/will die off quickly.

I can't speak for everyone, but I know I speak for a lot of people when I say we do want to see them.

I was discussing the issue of the male threads dying off with a friend here today and both of us think it's sad that they don't get the replies they deserve and the men give up and stop posting.

IBurntTheToast is right, you have to be active with it if you want to start one for yourself and I for one, hope you do. :):rose:

Also - guys tend to be so unimaginative.

I've heard women complain time and again that they don't want to see a guy's man-junk, but that seems to be the first thing guys want to show.

A penis is a penis. It's really not the way you want to introduce yourself.

Women (generally speaking here, because there ARE women who dig the cock shots) usually want to see other angles... a guy's chest, legs, back, even his hands.

I'm a guy, so please don't send me any guy pics. I don't want to see them. :D

I'm just trying to explain why so many guy threads die.

Men are not as pretty as women. Women are not as desperate as men. Put some thought into what you post and you might get a few nibbles. Godspeed.

I love viewing pics of men from the threads. There are only a few male pic threads that are great and it's because the guys take the time to keep the threads going. My favorite thread is Sailor Jerry's because not only does he post some great pics, but he takes the time to respond to all comments, he's always courteous, and he's really creative. I'm not a fan of cock shots but I love chest, abdomen, arm and back shots.

The lady pic posters very much appreciate and desire to have responses on their thread, but they don't seem to remember to reciprocate when they visit a male pic thread.

My take on this is I believe that while the lady pic posters want to be a bit naughty on their own threads, they consider it un-ladylike to post on a man's thread. I know they visit, just from the view count, but the replies can be few and far between.

I agree that a male pic thread needs to be more that just some average cock pics. The ladies often want to see other body parts, and they prefer the pics be artistic. Also include some banter back and forth. Give the thread some life. I think this will draw more posts.

But in the end, there are far more men here than there are ladies. And the men post a lot more comments on the female pic threads.

So there are two challenges:
  • Men - make your pics and your thread more interesting.
  • Ladies - show support your support for the men, just as you want others to support your thread.

I mentioned this over in this thread (click). I've been toying with the idea of posting a few photos of myself (not explicit, but still on the edge of my comfort zone) in the hope that they might be appreciated. Realistically, though, I'm not going to set the world on fire, and I don't wish to waste everyone's time by offering something that there isn't really any demand for. :)

They don't have to be explicit, many of my favorite guy threads are the ones with stories about their jobs, personal adventures or journeys and well thought out pictures.

I see nothing about you so far that would be a waste of anyones time.

Maybe take Inspirinious' advice and post in the 'Pics without a Thread' thread and give it a test drive.

Some guys are pretty to look.

Start in a suit then slowly strip down and you'll have a better chance.
Most women I know prefer full body shots and definitely chests over junk.

I am a women and am only really interested in seeing pictures of guys I already know and want. I am not particularly visual, voice has a much better effect on me.

Some chest shots with a puppy maybe?

Thanks for those replies, and apologies to the original poster for (temporarily) hijacking this thread.

Interesting! I'm keeping the idea of a "story" theme in mind. :)

Thank you! I think that's at least a non-vote of no confidence. :D

I've decided now that I'm definitely going to do something. I might even take the plunge and start my own thread. The trick now is to think of some suitably creative ideas and put them into action.

Hmm... I might be able to manage that. No promises, though. :)

That's good to know -- thanks!

Fair enough. :)

I'd need to kidnap a puppy first. ;)

A lot of male threads would also be more active if the men who post them were not so easily offended when another male tells them "nice pics" etc. granted I know most men here want the women to fawn all over them, but I raised to believe that a compliment is a compliment :) I have had quite a few ladies tell me things about my pics...which is quite flattering to think that I appeal to them even though they were not my intended target :)

I have had a few women comment on my pics in PM rather graphically and I simply reply kindly..."thanks so much for the comment..it is a great ego booster etc etc." Most gay/bi men who comment on a straight mans pics don't get explicit from my experience but a simple "Nice bod" comment has received open replies of "I'm not wanting guys to comment" or usually something more aggressively demeaning..so what I am saying is:

Accept compliments on your body/package/pics from everyone and your thread will go much further :)

Maybe there is one you could borrow?

Well said! Thank you for having the courage to say this.

I have often thought of posting on another man's thread, but usually settle for a PM. But a compliment is just that, a compliment. We can do that for anyone in this community.

I have such admiration for guys who do post pix :)

Visual and verbal stimulation never hurt anyone ;)

I had a pic thread :p you really need to attract some in and keep it going - it'll die very quick otherwise..

I revive my pic thread about once a month. Too much going on in life to do much more, but I do enjoy this place :)
