Reality Vs. Fantasy. (Votes)

Hello all,

Recently, I posted an essay comparing the reactions to a fantasy of rape, vs. the reality of it. My argment is that most people know the difference between fantasy and reality, and while they find the fantasy erotic, the realilty would be repulsive.

Anyway, while I am frankly proud of the piece, while the votes have been very good, I have only received 9 of them. I really would appreciate it if you would take the time to read the piece and leave me feedback and post votes on it.

Here's my take on this. Rape is a crime of abuse, humiliation and dominations. I find it and it's depiction sickening.

Certain areas of "fantasy rape" is fun and interesting. The RP aspect can be a great turn-on. The thought of an imaginary rape too, can be a bit of fun.

But that's as far as I will go.

IMO, the essay stacks the deck considerably, by asking us to compare two moderately similar stories, but where the second has LOTS of violent details, weapon, fist smashing face, etc. these events are not even hinted at in the first story.

the author concludes by suggesting there's something wrong with anyone getting off on the second story.

BUT if he really wanted to know if violence was erotic, and under what conditions (for some), a more comparable pair of stories would have to be created.

his point that realistic description of a real rape is NOT erotic, is, of course, generally true. but realistic depictions of lots of sex acts are very low on arousal value, e.g. Joe Blow and Jane Blow, married, doing it on friday night after both worked all day.
