I have been on this site for a few years now, and I have realize that some readers can be assholes towards the writers. And I am not talking about their work directly because I am pretty sure that some writers can take criticism pretty well but things 'this author had the same story and you are way better than them' some readers would say about an author, or 'such such is a better author than that person you suck'. Now I have not receive any of these comments but some of my favorite authors has, and I was puzzle by it, why would someone put down another authors work's in order to praise the other if they are both tit for tat.

But what I really don't understand about all of this is that most readers that give a lot of shit to authors about writing and what not and just giving them a alot of shit in general are not writers themselves or even editors. Some readers love being assholes to us writers but they don't understand how much we have to put in our stories to make them wonderful.

Any Thoughts? Or am I just imagining things and this post was unnecessary

You post your stories -- you take your chances. Ignore the trolls. They existed before the internet, and will likely outlast it into whatever cyber arena is next. It's not worth much thought.

Trolls in general are petty little people who take advantage of saying hurtful things and not having to identify themselves. They are usually the type that got their asses kicked in school or live with their domineering mom's or wives and this is their only outlet.

As for the specific situation of a reader posting "so and so is better" personally I think many of those are alts of the writer being mentioned in a pathetic attempt to get people to read their stuff.

Lighten up.

When I look back over my life its obvious that I caught more crap when I was right-on than when I was full of shit. I once had my ass beat to a pulp after I saved a woman's life...folks dont always have the complete picture when they act, and they go with what they got...like in Steve King's GREEN MILE. Its what people do.

Shit! Its what the crucifiction of Jesus is all about. IF FOLKS WILL KILL GOD, WHAT HOPE DO YOU HAVE! Get used to it.

Simple. Her old man arrived shortly before the police and ambulance. He was looking for her but I found her first. He assumed that he caught a villain. I had sent a companion to find a phone and get help, and stayed with her keeping her as alert as possible. Drug and alcohol overdose. I was 16.

Its like my old friend Tom. He was out in the barn milking the cow. The cow kept swatting him with her tail, so he got a ladder and was tying her tail to a rafter when his wife walked in.

OOOH that was awful. I hope that did not discourage you to others that are in need.

Yes it was awful at the time. But its common. When you do the right thing you often get your ass whupped. What do they say? NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED. So you gotta make up your mind to do right, and let the chips fall where they may.

Back in 1820 one of my ancestors bought a slave and freed her. It cost him $300. Prolly like 3 years wages today. Anyway, he was a Methodist circuit rider, and Methodist clergy couldnt own slaves...period....no matter if it was for an hour. And the church tried him in ecclesiastical court for buying a slave.

He confirmed that he did buy the slave before he set her free. Then he said that God made him a preacher to do good, and he intended to keep doing good deeds. And he sat down.

You've been here "for a few years"?

And you're just noticing?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

What's the deal with people being "on this site for a few years" who have join dates of 2011?

Who's got the time machine and isn't letting me in on it?

I stand corrected! Thanks for the edit Carlus!

Dear Reader

Looks like we have a bouncing Baby PILOT aboard!

Besides, whatever I submit would be as obscure and unknown to you as the nativity of Romulus and Remus.

I'm guessing these are people who read stories for a long time before getting user accounts. I know I did that for about a year.

No I'm not Pilot. I will not tell you I am secret agent/fighter pilot/diplomat/ editor/ teacher/bi sexual/ or pretend to be better than you or anyone else.

Try again JB

Only a year? I think I was anonymously reading stories for three or four years before establishing an ID.

Really got that bitter obsession bad, don't you, Lovey?

I'm sorry (no I'm not) that the best you have done in life is work in a warehouse. Of course the only thing we need for comparison on the erotica site is the quality, quantity, variety, and reach of the erotica we've written/published. :D

I posted stories for a couple of years before looking at the forum, so my date is the start of posting stories and a couple of years before looking at the forum.

Started reading in 2002, joined in 2009, didn't do much of anything until the end of 2010.

And I don't think I voted on a single story until 2011. Bad, bad me.

This is surprising. I would have thought "LettersFrom" indicated of a much greater degree of active participation.
