US declassifies key name in Saudi-9/11 lawsuit

"The US Justice Department has agreed to declassify the name of a Saudi official who allegedly helped mastermind the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
(He) allegedly directed two men with links to the Saudi government in assisting the September 11, 2001 hijackers.

Fifteen of the 19 alleged hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, though its government denies involvement in the attacks, which were blamed on Al-Qaeda.

My understanding is that these all happened at the request of families, and following their lawsuit against Saudi Arabia.

So up till now, there were plenty of public speculations re the involvement of the Sudi government in masterminding the attack,
given that most attackers were from SA.
But apparently, these are the first concrete forms of evidence released to the public.

So many questions that I'd like to ask those who know a thing or two about Politics:
Like Why did the US govt. continue doing business with SA, given all the evidence?

The most significant points of the article, for me are:

1. There is concrete evidence that one Saudi official helped masterminded the attack.

2. On top of that, Khalid Sheikh might? provide more evidence
re the involvement of the Saudi government.

"The names of the other two men, Fahad al-Thumair and Omar Ahmed al-Bayoumi, had already been released and have been connected to the government of Saudi Arabia in earlier reports.

Families of 9/11 victims have sought the release of the third name as part of a lawsuit against Saudi Arabia over allegations of the country's involvement in the attacks.

The name will be disclosed to lawyers for the plaintiffs but they will be prevented from releasing the name to the public.

The FBI described the name as "the primary piece of information that the plaintiffs in the 9/11 litigation have been seeking.""

Based on that, the name will not be made public.

That said, the Saudis are one of the most violent and sadistic Governments on the planet, openly conducting public beheadings in a place known as 'chop-chop square'. They have religious police that arrest people for who they dress or speak. Women are not allowed out in public at night without a male escort.

There is little doubt they were involved. They should have been designated a terrorist nation long ago.

Why are they still our allies? Because they're friends with the GOP elite and oil money.

According to BBC, Fahad al-Thumairy was a former Saudi consulate official, and Omar Ahmed al-Bayoumi was suspected of being a Saudi intelligence officer.
Apparently, a 2012 report by the FBI revealed that they were being investigated by them.

And I read somewhere (was it real or fake news?) that some Saudi officials were given visas to leave the States immediately after 9/11. Instead of being investigated.
This of course doesn't mean that US officials had any involvement or knowledge of the attack. But it was a slap in the face of families.
