Razors or Depilatories? Which - Why?

Many of us, though not all, like to remove all or most of our pubic hair (and sometimes all body hair).

The questions here are:

Which method do you prefer - razor or depilatory? If depilatory, which one(s) do you prefer? Why do you prefer that one/them over others?

(And if this has been queried before - sorry about that, but maybe we'll get some new input.)

Magic Cream.

It works well and for long periods of time.

That is our boy's choice, I haven't used the Magic yet, but the female equivalent (veet) is good stuff. Nair gives me chemical burns, and waxing doesn't do it for me (I get extra sensitive after shaving with a razor, and the veet with the "bladeless razor" tool gives me that same extra sensitivity which is soo much fun).

Holly still uses a razor.

I use a Mach 3 razor about every 2nd day in the shower - daily shaving is a bit much, I get red itchy bumps

I'm tempted to grow it out a little and go for a professional brazillian wax but I'm a wuss when it comes to pain.....;)

Tried the creams (Veet, Nair) but can't be bothered sitting around waiting for the time to elapse, and there always seems to be some hairs that get missed :(

Well I shave, for two reasons. One, I've never done anything else! LOL I'm a creature of habit. But beyond that I've got very sensitive skin. Once I tried to wax my legs, and ended up with a bad rash that got infected. So now I'm afraid to try anything else.

I have two methods, depending on where I am...

If I am just at home and not planning on being used daily like I am when with my domme or at a play party, I shave in the shower every other day. I start out with an Intuition razor and clean up with the newest Mach...it vibrates...makes me horny as hell. Sometimes I'll use a venus.

If I am with my domme or at a play party, I shave like that the day I fly out, and touch up every day with The Body Bare. This is an AWESOME pussy stubble razor, you use it dry with baby powder and it leaves you incredibly smooth. Only works on stubble though, so has to be used daily or it won't work. But I've never been as smooth as with this thing, and its rechargable and incredibly easy and fast to use once you get a hang of it and figure out which way your hair grows.

I am still in quest of the perfect shave method... I confess, I tried the Magic Shave, and have less that happiness to report. First off, no depilatory cream I've ever used has worked worth a damn on me. Second, they smell awful. Third, most burn, to varying degrees. With the Magic for sensitive skin, I got a mild burning, then it didn't take off all the hair, and you can't reapply, or you get nasty burns. So I came across some extra-strength, and it did seem to work well on the hair, but it burned worse than waxing! Plus, you can't just rinse it off with water & washcloth- you have to scrape it off, as if you were shaving, which increases the burning sensation. Then, the instructions tell you to rinse off any that you've missed... water, at this point, burns like the core of the goddamned sun! (And all of the usual treatments for genital burns aquired through chemical misadventure burn- Tucks, Bactine, etc...- just make the burning worse still.) And even so, I missed a few hairs.

Shaving does a marvelous job, provided you're not clumsy with a razor, but for my part, no matter how smooth I think I am, ten minutes after I'm towelled off, I'm stubbly again.

How about a blowtorch?

JK

But seriously, anyone ever experiment with singe-ing(sp) as a means of removal? Just curious.

YES! I was playing with some rubbing alcohol a few years ago, (on my arm-hairs,) and decided that i really should try that- but I haven't done so yet. Partly because, through a misadventure with a high-school boy and a bottle of blackberry brandy, I know that alcohol down there burns pretty bad as well...

Depilatories: Magic (just like MissTaken). It softens skin and it usually doesn't irritate it unless you have to go over it with a razor. If that happens, it means you aren't leaving it on long enough. Since I have really dark hair (an Irish woman with almost-black hair, oh my!), I use the beard removal cream for African men. It's kinky, maybe a bit unflattering, but it works.

Okay, y'all- I keep hearing how fabo this Magic Cream is. Never mind that I can only get the powderde variety around here, and I got a ton of tips already that haven't helped. What practical object are people using to remove this stuff? Is there a special tool I'm unaware of? (Been using a rubber spatula, with less than perfect results.)

if you can get veet in your area, it comes with a 'bladeless razor' which is how ghosst gets it off now ... but we had a very stiff, hard plastic spatula that he used before, and it worked ok.

Another Magic user.

I use a rubbermaid spatula to remove it. The kitchen spatulas in my house all have white handles and the Magic ones are blue.

Since I'm feeling snarky (yes it's a real word, go look it up), I'm going to mention that I hate shaving/magicking my pubes. It hurts like all get out, and it's not worth the pain to please anyone. I trim instead. If I have to wear a bikini, I magic the line. Otherwise it's sandpaper city, baby.

I shave. I've tried a couple creams. I have very sensitive skin, and it burned rather badly. I haven't seen this Magic of which you speak of, or Veet. Tried waxing once on my legs and said no WAY to there. I do get my eyebrows done, but that's not that bad.

My skin is so sensitive that is burns on contact... doesn't matter what... but I found that if I apply a little baby oil before using magic or veet it doesn't burn at all....

... and that is cellis' tip of the day.;)

Cellis, does the Magic work as well with the baby oil?

I have not used the powered form but the other one does... just remember to lightly oil and then wipe most of it off the hair. I burn terribly in the crease of my legs and the oil keeps that from happenning.

serijules, where does one find this magic pubic razory thingy?

I've never had a lot of hair down there, cause I started shaving when it first came in.. I thought hairy parts were gross. Nowadays, I like a bit on other people, but hairless still does something special for me.

SO anyhoo, I shave my parts every few days or so; I'm lucky cause I don't get a lot of stubble, but if I could do something easier than blade shaving that got a close shave, I would!

I trim very close to my skin, take a long bath to soften the hairs, and then use Vo5 hair conditioner. I massage it through the hair, it softens the skin and the hair and I can still see what I'm doing. I've tried some of the shave gels, but they tend to sting. And sensitive skin Magic BURNED so bad I cried. I've never tried a chemical ever since and will not ever do it. Let's just call that a hard limit, shall we? My skin reacts to just about everything.

Sir Winston, I have a novel suggestion..

How's about you try a few different methods, post vefore and after piccys and let us vote?

LOL, Snowy! I've been a fan of Magic (powder first, because I was able to find it first - then the cream) since I discovered it some years ago.

However, I don't use it for day-to-day life. I generally reserve it for those occasions when I'm going in for another angiogram (they stick a very large gauge needle into the femoral artery at the groin, run a device up through it, into the aorta and then into the heart and release dye to see how badly the heart's arteries and veins are blocked).

After the second time a nurse nicked that sensitive abdominal skin while she was shaving me to prep for the angio, I decided I would make their shaving me a non-issue. I tried shaving myself, but it's awkward, so went for the Magic, which I'd heard about before, for the next time. When the OR nurse's face came up with her little shaving tray and said, "We're going to need to 'clean you up' a little before they start," I looked her in the eye and said, "No, you're not," and lifted my gown to display a completely hairless groin. Magic cream: $2.89; plastic spatula: $1.00; look on her face: PRICELESS!

Many of the folks in the group I belonged to in Tampa were very fond of Magic for their day-to-day life, though, and swore by it. I only recall one person who reported a "burn" issue, and she resolved it the same way cellis did - a light layer of baby oil to protect the skin. You do, however, need to get as much of the oil off the hair itself as possible, to allow the Magic to penetrate the hair and weaken/dissolve it.

I get so very sensitive when I use any kind of cream or hair removal topical, so I generally use a Venus in the shower everyday when I am in the shaving mood.

I vary...I will go through periods of time when I let it grow and dont shave at all, sometimes for months, and then I will get a wild hair (pun intended :p) and shave it all off, keeping it that way for a while.

I am very interested in hearing more about serijules stubble dry shavy thing!!

I think I posted a thread in How To or here a long time ago, but how do you all go about shaving the lower areas, like around your ass, for instance? Same methods or something different? When I shave, I prefer to get it ALL...as much as possible...inner lips, outer lips, ass, everything....but that takes forever it seems...any tips?

I never shave there.
It's one of the things he insists on doing for me.
(and does a better job than I ever could)

Plucking is the only way I find works without creating some nasty or annoying side effect. Preferrably by means of an electrical mode of plucking, though Masterful One, upon discovering how much I hate it and go into freakish mode, has been known to order me to lay open while he amuses himself with a pair of tweezers. Has proven to be a most effective threat to encourage complete obedience.

Catalina :rose:

 Plucking?  by electircal means?!?!?

Get that Epibitch away from me!!! (epibitch = Epilady.. bad old joke along the lines of "that's no lady! That's a..." line)

Catalina, you're much braver and masochistier than me!
