The second installment of a story I'm working on has been posted and it seems that even though people are reading it, no one seems to be voting. Just wondering what you all think the ratio of views to votes is; does it vary by category (this one is in BDSM)?

Not meaning to ask two questions in the same thread, but while I tend to vote on most stories I read (like my mom told me, if I can't say something nice........) and comment, I have gotten only one public comment and very little feedback. Just wondering what are your thoughts on the ratios of views to votes and such as that.

Edited to add: Do stories in the contests get more votes simply by being in the contest?

There is no norm for views to votes, not even category to category.

And yes, contest entries get more votes, beter and worse, as well as comments and everything else.

There is no norm like Thee said but observation tells me that it's around 1 in 100 views.... give or take.... and a view doesn't mean a read neccesarily.... that just means someone opened the story....

There was a thread on all this floating around and someone made a study of it.... I just can't remember where or who.....

Contest stories get more votes because the are in front of the readers for longer... new stories stay up for a few days... contest stories stay up for weeks.....

There is no sense.
I have two stories in the same category, about the same characters.
One has 597 views and 6 votes.
The other 619 views and 14 votes.

Then of course theres the one with just shy of 18,000 views and 111 votes and the one with 12300 views and 46 votes...
There's no formula that'll cover it.

Does it matter that much?
