Ratings trolls?

18 is on the category hub hall of fame, 30 isn't. So, yes, it's possible you were trolled to bump you out of the top 20. Some toplists are worse than others, but they all have shenanigans in that top 20.

It's also possible that you were on the threshold of that .01 change and a 4 or two was enough to make the difference. More exposure from the toplists also means you're going to attract more of the readers who don't just vote 1 or 5.

If it was trolling, a sweep will eventually remove it, and you'll pop back up. Of course, you'll probably get trolled right back down again. The thing to remember is that every time you make that list, you're attracting new eyes, and new votes. As you accumulate votes, it becomes more difficult to knock you down, and requires increasingly risky tactics that may attract the attention of the Hoover.

I've got two that do that fairly regularly. "Rim Fire" in Anal and "Holly Jolley Christmas" in Incest are forever bouncing up and down by .01, which moves them in and out of that top 20. As soon as I see a flurry of new activity, I know it's peeked back into the hall of fame again.

Thanks for all the info RR. I'm not vexed about any of this since as you've said; Things will get evened out. The thing that got me curious is that I was getting so many new Followers and also comments on that story — plus it's been a long time since I've posted a new story. When I saw the rating on that one story it reminded me that at some point back in time I had looked through the Top List. Mostly I was curious at the cutoff point. Heck, I've still got a swollen head just by being on any list :D

I don't imagine there's any feasible way to retroactively change the category on published stories?

One story I submitted, (https://www.literotica.com/s/charlie-william-and-anna-1) was put in a different category by Laurel than the one I had chosen. She had looked at the title Charlie, William and Anna and assumed it was Group Sex not Romance as I had specified. I immediately sent in an edit, hoping it wouldn’t stick in the usual weekly wait, explaining it was a story about Anna meeting two different clients, one old and one young, separately not as a threesome. Twenty four hours later it was on the first page in Romance.

I don’t see why she wouldn’t do this for a story published sometime ago as long as the reason she is given is logical and reasonable.

You can - it's the same process as described above for editing - resubmit the whole story, add EDIT to the title, change the category, add a Note to the Editor saying that's what you want changed. Remember through, the final call is always down to Laurel - but in most cases, based on previous posters here, you'll get what you want.

If you're not changing any of the story text, you don't have to mess with that. All that does is open you up to accidentally putting in an older draft, or forgetting that you made a last second edit after the preview, and introducing errors that weren't present in the posted version.

If the posted version of the story text is good, leave it be :)

Instead, just copy the "notes" section where you detail the changes you want made to the "story text" section to complete the form.

Good shortcut, good to know (not that I go changing categories, but handy for those who do).

Unbirth... it's sound interesting. Have you had some of that or deleted all of them?

This troll question is interesting. In my home country is a similar site like this. I wrote a lot of stories to there, but the first few comment were really bad always and every time the same person wrote them. After few occasions I checked his other comments and all of them was negative. Once I wrote a reply for this comment and asked what the problem with the story? Everyone liked it, why he doesn't? And the answer was hilarious. "Too much sex are in these stories, he likes it when it only romantic, but not direct sex". I answered it and asked ok, but do yo know it is a porn site? But I haven't got any reply ever.

So it's difficult why someone writes this kind of comments. Everybody has his/her own motive.
