Hi, last December, I added a chapter to a series that I am writing. Initially, there were several high numbers but after eight votes all ratings ceased with no new stars added after the first few days. What happened?

It happens. Your interested followers will read the new chapter pretty quickly after it's published. It will be on the category's New Stories list for a few days. After that, it's up to you to get more eyes on it. If no-one's reading it, no-one's voting for it. It took my story The Countesses of Tannensdal about four or five months to get the ten votes needed for a Red H, and my first WIWAW about nine months, I think.

Of course you might also have inadvertently blocked voting, so you might want to check the story's settings.

Good luck!

Checked the settings, all good. It's added over 1000 views since last votes. It gets favorites and is of a similar theme as all of my other stories. Perplexing. I haven't had time to add another chapter.

The more you write, the more eyes you'll get on your older stories. On your newer ones too, for that matter, because frequent publishing gets you more followers.

There's your answer. If you publish progressively, you've got to maintain the pace. If the last chapter was in December, it's now nearly June. That's far too long a gap.

People might be reading it (keep in mind, Views only means someone has opened it, but doesn't mean they've read it), but they've got nowhere to go, so why would they bother rating it?
