Consenual sex means that both partners are willing. Nonconsenual is one partner does not want to and is forced.
Rape is always nonconsenual (unless it is as 'play')

A marriage license is not a license to take or fuck when ever the male seems to feel it and especially not by force.

She was raped and evidently has been raped more than once. I am saddened when I hear stories like this. Where is the compassion and love in this marriage? In any marriage where this occurs?

Nobody should be forced to to anything. Why does she stay...and this might sound wrong, but this answer comes up alot...Because I love him, or I deserved it. This is a topic we just dicussed in my unit. No means no. Whether you are married or not.

Is this rape? Yes, of course it is. Do the courts turn a blind eye and deaf ear to complaints of spousal rape? Apparently.

If this was my sister, I would refer her to a Battered Woman's shelter...like Emerald_Eyed was talking about, and help her get some support. Then, I would contact my Senators and Congresspeople. Maybe even get the media involved. Why? Because problems like this need to be brought to light...not just in the minds of people on Lit, but in the minds of everyone.

As others have stated, if it's non-consensual, it's rape. Pretty cut and dried there. There are a lot of head-games played within marriages so there could be any number of reasons why she ha permitted this to continue but she needs a wake up call. She needs to get out of the situation. He needs to land in prison but that's another story..

As for being related to cervical and/or uternine cancer.. Only a doctor would be able to answer that.

I know it's wrong and you know it's wrong, but how does one convince people who are living it daily that it is wrong, Hanns? I have tried and tried! Why does she stay and so many like her? How do you convince them it really is RAPE??? It's hard knowing it is happend ot her and she won't do anything. The fact that she told me means she wants help and I tried to do that - she went back home! I'm angry and very sad!

Going to you is great and all. Sympathy and care and all that. But, no offense, you can't help her. Not the way the police can. If she won't call them, you should.

It is all about control. Has he threatend her? She might be scared to go to the police and feels confident only going to you. The best thing is to be there. You can call the police, but I have a feeling she might back down. Be supportive and care. Do what YOU think is right.

Its rape, its will always be rape when it’s nonconsensual.

No it’s not a coincidence, stress has much to do with your (her) physical health. I carry several autoimmune problems from my marriage.
As for the women’s shelter, they really aren't all they are cracked up to be, most of them are religious, which can do as much damage.
