Seriously, you're looking to make an editor your chained-up fuck-slut? Nah, won't be applying for this gig anytime soon unless I really fuck up, am found innocent, and guilt drives me to your side...even then a stretch.

Let's not think galaxies away but here and now. I'm no lawyer, no retainer fee, but now I'm wondering if I should require one (a fee)?

And please, don't frigging hog the efforts of editors. There are too many writers seeking editors to take false pride in claiming more than one of us, as if we're some frigging prizes to be won at the state fair. Sorry, not some balloon-boy. I may resemble a pig, but I am not one.

You only had a ten minute gap between your spout off and your re-think. You could just edit your comment if it was more biting than you had intended.

It's a two way street on this editing thing, so your comments are not necessarily unjustified. However, since this isn't for pay, many who volunteer, um, don't. I mean they don't actually do what they've freely promised, so from the writer's perspective, I can understand him looking for a 'stable' of editors. You hope, if you get four saying yes, two will be reliable and one will be available. (This would be for someone really cranking out material, not me! )

Don't worry about it AS, just apologize and move on. I mean, stick around. Most of us know your bite is much worse than your bark! (Nah ... you know I jest!)



Dontai -- Might I recommend a little honey? (I just have this weird thing for honey for some reason.) A little gentle persuasion? I mean, you are asking for several folks to do something out of the goodness of their hearts for you. Paid editors don't come cheap, so you're getting a real benny here.

If a person wants more than one editor, that speaks of a desire to iron a driveway out as smooth as possible so many people will find it pleasurable to park there. If he gets that many editors, I salute him for being able to sweet-talk so many people.

I've had time to thinl, and now I'm PISSED!

Here's my problem with multiple editors - not letting an editor know the story has already been edited, if this is the case.

Okay, a writer wants multiple looks, fine, as long as the editors know this.

I am taking time out of MY LIFE, for NO FUCKING CHARGE, to do this for a writer. I have a FUCKING RIGHT to know if this os the original story or one that has been edited one or more times. This is what upsets me -- deception.

As an editor, I want to know if someone else has gone over the piece before I do. Also if anyone is checking it after me. The answers would make the decision as to whether I even agreed to edit that piece.

There is no way to answer the 'real meat question', in my opinion. Each editor might look for different things. The simpler errors don't take very long to mark. More complex edits will take far longer. What you described as 'a bit meatier', might still be less than what I do.

Here's a better, less emotional and much more logical expression of why I reacted the way I did.

A writer sought out my assistance, and being the person I am who had (note past tense here, writers) a difficult time turning away writers, I accepted a rather long story.

Being the editor I am I read, sometimes rereading, every sentence, noting any obstacles to the flow, making alternate suggestions. This is very time-consuming. I don't just skim and look for obvious errors, I immerse myself, fully committing myself, into an edit I agree to. Just query those I have edited for, you'll see this is true, not some exaggeration to explain away a post that was less than admirable.

And here I am, putting personal projects aside, deceiving the wife I love, to make time to edit a story that I am editing for no other reason than because I said I would. I stand by my word, in a world that doesn't respect others. But this is who I am.

I spent, all told, probably the better part of a week editing this story. And at the end the writer offered no thanks, informed me that they preferred the version of the edited story that was given to them originally, and would not be accepting my suggestions.

Just so you know why I have taken the stand that I have.

This happened a year or more ago.

But it happened, and I have been duly affected.

That's how I see it -- why waste valuable resources in a tug-of-war?

Holy fucking god now my head is going to explode. Not to say that you're without point; it's rather obvious now that there's more than an amount of words doing into play regarding the total time required between time received and time sent back.

Either way, I'm just glad my authors have been, at the very least, courtious, and in many cases, verbally appreciative of my input. One even put a spot for my name in his introduction under "Edited by:" when he sent it to me for editing ^-^

Johana stared down at her console. The warning lights just came on again. She swore that she turned them off. She slammed on varies buttons hoping some thing would shut them off. The Tuskganian war was in full swing. The imperialistic ruler of the new Evearth colonies had vote to over run Targana, the home world of Elchie. She was part of large battle fleet guarding Elchie. She continued to hit random button hoping something would work. She accidentally hit the missile pod button, outside of the ship four echlon missile streak by slamming in to a Tuskganian cruiser. The ship shields momentary lowered, then the ship was caught in a massive explosion. One less of them to worry about. She turned and look over at her only crew. Her ships was a mark five battleship designed to work with a skeleton crew. Three people to be precise: Zak, Linda and Her. She looked over at Zack to precise. His young handsome feature gave her courage. They had decide along time ago that fraternization and relation between them was going to be allowed. They were in a war for their varies lives, lives that may end in a moment notice. The missile firing had shut down the warning alarms, and now she found the button for the rail guns. They were old by all designs, but they could be still useful. She fired a quick burst and was answer by resulting explosion. Then a new light came on "what the hell does that mean?" she said more to her self then any one else. Then she saw that all the missiles had been jettisoned. "Shit shit", she moaned. In frustration she brought the large battle ships, all seven hundred meters, to bare on the starboard side. "In coming", Zack said. Two more Tuskganian, Tusk for short, were incoming. She maneuvered the ship to the best of her abilities to avoid the incoming fire. The ship was far to bulky and slow to doge the incoming missiles.

Lucky for her the ship shields and armor were easily a match for the missiles. She returned fire with all available rail cannons dishing out healthy dose destruction. The ship lurch hard as another incoming volley scorched the shields. "That it im sick of these guys", Johana said none compliantly. She maneuvered the massive ship in spiral down pattern firing at point blank range. Two more ships exploded. Suddenly a massive battle ship approach from the port bow. It laser Cutter turret dish out a deadly doze of red flashes as it burned away the shields. In response, she open fired her own Laser turret, which at the moment were low on energy. They had little effect, so she cranked up the rail guns and blasted it six ways to Sunday. The rounds pummeled the shields, but still the shields held on. In a hectic moment, the enemy ship passed right next to her ship, nearly colliding as it flew past her. She was bit more angry now. "So be it," She maneuvered her ship close to enemy ship as possible, raking it with deadly dose of hot steel. The ship was barely able to mange to survive the consecutive burst of Rail rounds. Eventually the shield collapsed in on them selves. Then she tore the ship to bits. Eventually several smaller explosion showed the ship was heavily damage. Then a missile barrage by a allied ship finish it off. By now though, her ship's shield were low. She had to make a better effort to doge the incoming rounds. This didn't work, so she had to deal with every single warning light going off at once. It was so noisy that she couldn't hear her self think. Instead of going solo, she formed up with the remaining allied ships. The some forty-eight ships were heavily out number by seventy-five enemy Tusk ships. They were stronger then the tusk ships, and more determined. The tusk ships had scattered now. It was more of a matter of hunting them down. Finally the battle died down as the remaining enemy ship were destroyed. Johana formed up with two cruiser and took on the remaining tusk ships.

They found two tusk cruiser floating in space. They turned and fired at cruiser left of Johana. The cruisrs, like Johana's ship, were some what rectangle. The front end of cruiser exsplode in blinding white light as several rail round collide with the hull. Johana ship and the remaining cruiser in retailing open fired destroying one of cruiser. The second veered off, but was stopped, when several rail rounds punced the ships hull. Their was beeping on Johana console, when she hit the button the fleet commander appeared on screen. "Good jop as usal Johana", he said. "that would be last of them." Johana have incourging smill at him, "Just doing my job", she said. "Our ship has sustained damage, do we have permision to disenage this sytem.

The shipped dropped out of outerwarp space, and found six tuskaganian cruisers waiting for it. Johana stared down at the reading, then turned to her crew, "We have company. Six mark V 8 cruiser dead on top of us.

It was cool Sunday morning with a bliss full wind blowing. Jenese had been planning for her bachelorette party for last two weeks. Now the time has finally come. She stood out side with wind blowing in her light reddish hair. She was standing out in the cold chill, when she saw Samantha drive up. She waved at her "over here", she screamed. Samantha pulled her SUV in to the Jenese's driveway. "you ready?" Jenese asked as Samantha stepped out of her SUV. Samantha just made a motion behind her at her SUV and walked in side. Jenese made a quick check of Samantha's SUV, seeing every thing in order she followed her inside. Inside Jenese finished packing. She had four large suitcase over stuffed with tropical close. Samantha made a frown at one of her outfits "Is she really going to wear that?" She said with obvious signs of disgust.

"Hey i think its cute," Jenese retorted inside. Samantha just made a quirky face in return, then started laughing. "It so ugly", she said "Your really going to wear that." Jenese ignored her, and grabbed her bags. Then she walked outside to the taxi. Samantha went out after her to get stuff out of her SUV and unloaded her bags in to the taxi. Together they caught a plane to undisclosed mediterranean location. From the moment Samantha stepped off the plane, she was surprised how beautiful the small island was. Their was a cobble stone path leading up to a large old style mansion built in the eighteenth century over looking a sea side cliff. The view was breath taking, that with not even being in the mansion. "Let me show you around," said Jenese. "It cost a small fortune to rent this place out." Jenese said leading Samantha to the large mansion. "This is the dinning hall," she said entering a dinning room with a table that covered the entire large room. Then she walk into the room next to it, a massive ballroom with chandelier as big as a small room. The light coming off it was blinding from it. It had close to forty light bulbs on at once. "This is were the real fun will start." she said with a snicker. Then she took her out back to a massive swimming pull. Then down to beach with a bar built along side it. When the tour was over, on the way back to her room, she passed a handsome man that appeared to be Arabian or middle eastern. She stop for a second look, but he was gone. Her mind twirled with notion, and then shove it aside. The guest arrived one by one. It started with her friend Lindsy arriving by plane earlier that day. Then as the rest of her friends arrived, she greeted each in turn. Later on she was in her room, "So the rest of the guest have arrived?" asked Samantha. "All but Janet." replied Jenese. Samantha sighed, "She is always late." Samantha slipped in to closet and put on her dress. When she got out, Jenese was waiting for her dressed in a evening gown. "You look gorgeous," said Jenese. Samantha smiled, " You dont look so bad your self." Together they walk down stairs to the waiting party. By the time they got down stairs, the party was already in full swing with loud blaring music playing and people drinking. Jenese had invited a local band from her home town to play at her bachelorette party. The thirty-five plus girls seemed more interested in the band then the party. More then half of them seemed to have fallen for them and were flirting with them. Samantha was about to sigh, when she realized they were kind of cute. So she walked up to one and started making ideal conversation.

She gave up quickly on that idea and started dancing in the center of the ball room. By now techno had started playing and most of the girl had moved to the dance floor. Samantha wasn't to big on small talk, but she loved dancing. Samantha let the music take over her body and moved with it. Samantha decided to take a break from dancing and sat down at a bar that had been set up up in the ball room. It had spiked fruit punch and more alcohol then she ever seen. She tried some of the spiked punch, and then nearly gagged on it. Their was way to much alcohol in it. Then one of the various girls sat down and talked with her. She went as far as hitting on Samantha before she had enough of it. She got up and left the party life to the dismay of several of her friends. Samantha decided a moon light stroll on the beach would be the best way to clear up the alcohol in her head. Samantha thought she was alone on the beach, besides the bar tender who passed her a few looks. She heard someone behind her and thought they were from the party . She looked behind her, and it was the Arabian man. He was wearing a business suit with a tie, looking as formal as possible. "What are you doing out here all by your self?" he said with thick Arabian accent.
