Yes. I think the best way to think of it is the way one of the guys from the podcast "Caustic Soda" put it. "Just think of them as a series of really well written short stories."
I just always want to know what happens next...and the way he writes intentionally frustrates that, so I appreciate it...now. Not the first time through.
