Annette Joanne Funicello (October 22, 1942 – April 8, 2013) was an American actress and singer. Beginning her professional career as a child performer at the age of twelve, Funicello rose to prominence as one of the most popular "Mouseketeers" on the original Mickey Mouse Club.[1] As a teenager, she transitioned to a successful career as a singer with the pop singles "Tall Paul" and "Pineapple Princess", as well as establishing herself as a film actress, popularizing the successful "Beach Party" genre alongside co-star Frankie Avalon during the mid-1960s. The blog "Extra" reported that Annette Funicello died of complications of multiple sclerosis on April 8, 2013.[2] Disney's D23 fan club confirmed her death with an obituary on their blog.[3]

This is sad. Seems like a fairly long life for someone with ms, though. My dad loved her. I should call him.

Your dad loved her? How old is your dad? Lots of kids I grew up with loved her as well. When we had our circle jerks her name would come up quite often and we'd sing the Mousketeer theme. Very "Full Metal Jacket" since a number of the kids in that circle didn't come home from Nam.

If Stephen King ever does a sequel to Stand By Me . . .

I remember her from How To Stuff A Wild Bikini which included Buster Keaton in a last role.

Although Annette was very pregnant during the filming, which was minimised by strategically placed props, she was portrayed as the sexiest kitten on the beach. She just about managed to carry that role, which says something for her acting.

I will miss her, but I can still watch her films and regret a lost era of innocent movies that were just entertainment.
