I love all kinds of music. I have a big thing for R and B tunes and artists. I.E. Keith Sweat.....R.Kelly.....Mark Morrison.....Ginuine.....Usher.....Nelly.....and En Vogue.

Im pretty hip to the Keith, and R. stuff, but is anyone else into this type of Music and can suggest any kick ass tunes, or artist in that vain I might dig?

Mention some stuff....even good tunes by these artists......

I like the sexy dance funk fuck music.

Note: she doesnt come round anymore too much she's busy with her Zine, but I always think of Just_Pet for some reason when I hear Nelly's " Hott In Here" like I am right now....;)

Post your fave dance, soul, funk, or R and B tunes/artists....dont care how old the stuff is.

Peace out to my homies.......

Two words:

Teddy Pendergrass.

But there's always:

Isley Brothers (In Between The Sheets, For The Love Of You and others), Earth, Wind & Fire (Reasons, Can't Hide Love), Ohio Players (lots to choose from, including Fire, Skin Tight, Sweet Sticky Thing), Cameo has many funky fuck cuts (Shake Your Pants), Funkadelic ({Not Just} Knee Deep..and several more...

I could really go on for quite some time here, but I'll stop now.

Sure is, RNAB. Great tune. Otis Redding was a genius.
For funk/disco, I like The Gap Band and good old Kool & the Gang.

More R&B/Soul/Funk kinda stuff--you can tell I like the Old School (or at least music in that vein): Ike & Tina Turner, 70's Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack, Lauryn Hill, Cameo, Parliament, old Prince, James Brown, Alicia Keys, Commodores, and of course, Queen Aretha.

Now I've gotta listen to "Brick House." See what you've done? :D

Al Wilson..."Show and Tell"....one of my favorite soul songs....you can feel it down to your toes when he sings this song...sigh....definitely a great soul, making looooooove tune;)

These are the eyes
That never knew how to smile till you came into my life (do-do-do-do-do)
And these are the arms
That long to lock you inside every day and every night (do-do-do-do-do)
Girl, and here is the soul of which you've taken control
Can'tcha see I'm tryin' to show love is right?

Whoa, oh, oh, oh show and tell
Just a game I play
When I wanna say "I love you"
Girl, so show me and tell me
That you feel the same way too
Say you do, baby

These are the hands
That can't help reaching for you if you're anywhere in sight
(Anywhere in sight)
And these are the lips
That can't help callin' your name in the middle of the night
(Middle of the night)

Whoa, and here is the man
Who needs to know where you stand
Dontcha know I've done all I can, so decide

Whoa, oh, oh, oh show and tell
Just a game I play
When I wanna say "I love you" (I love you)
Girl, so show me and tell me
That you feel the same way too
Say you do, say you do, baby, baby, baby

<instrumental interlude>

Ahh, here is the soul
Of which you've taken control
Can't you see I'm tryin' to show love is right?

Ooh, girl, show and tell
Just a game I play
When I wanna say "Oh, I love you"
Girl, so show me and tell me
That you feel the same way too
Say you do, say you do, baby

Whoa, oh, oh, oh show and tell
Just a game I play
When I wanna say "Oh, I love you"
FADE
Girl, so show me and tell me
That you feel the same way too
Say you do, baby, baby

Bill Withers - Ain't no Sunshine

Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
It’s not warm when she’s away.
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
And she’s always gone too long
Anytime she goes away.

Wonder this time where she’s gone
Wonder if she’s gone to stay
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
And this house just ain’t no home
Anytime she goes away.

BRIDGE:

And I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know,
I know, I know, hey,
I ought to leave the young thing along
But ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone

Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
Only darkness every day.
Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone
And this house just ain’t no home
Anytime she goes away.
Anytime she goes away.
Anytime she goes away.
Anytime she goes away.

Killswitch, aren't you afraid that if your kids hear you listening to this music they might go all ghetto and start wanting to wear bandanas on their heads or something else likely to lead to gang violence and teen pregnancy? You should really be a bit more careful.

What about that awesome West Coast band, Tower of Power? Gotta love at least some of their songs:

What Is Hip?
Soul Vaccination (great lyrics--'keep you from catchin' honky pox')
Don't Change Horses in the Middle of the Stream
You've Got to Funkifize

etc.

Otis Redding sang one of the best R&B songs of all time -

TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS

Ooh she may be weary
And them young girls they do get weary
Wearing that same old shaggy dress
But when they get weary
[You gotta] try a little tenderness

[Tell you, might not believe it, but]
You know she's waiting
Just anticipating
The thing that she'll never, never, possess,no,no
But while [all the time] she's without it
Go to her and try just a little bit of tenderness
[Thats all you gentlemen gotta do]

Oh,but its one thing
It might be a bit sentimental yeah, yeah
She has - her greaves and care
But the soft words [they] are spoken so gentle
Yeah
But, oh, that makes it, makes it easier to bear, yeah

You wont regret it
No no,
Them young girls they dont forget it
[Cause] Love is their whole, whole happiness Yes, yes, yeah

And its all so easy
Come on and try
Try a little Tenderness
Yeah Try
Just keep on trying

You've got to love her
Squeeze her
Don't tease her Make love [Get to her]
Hold her tight
Just, just try a little tenderness
Thats all you gotta do
Youve gotta hold her tight

One more time
You`ve got to love her
hold her Don't tease her
Never leave her
Make love to her
Hold her, man

Try a little tenderness
[Just one time] God have mercy now

All you`ve gotta do
Love her
You've gotta hold her
Don't squeeze her
Never leave her Y
ou gotta now,now,now

Watch it , tell everybody
Try
Try a little tenderness

You gotta make love
Don't tease her
Never leave her
Rub her down
Smooth her, soothe her
Move her
Love her
Rub her
Gotta gotta, zak it to her
Try some tenderness

Oh yeah
Tenderness
Little tendernes
Gotta, lord you gotta hold her
Squeeze her Never leave her

Well I mean I'm just sayin, you were so very very concerned about poor what's 'er face's little girl with her do-rag and how that was surely a one-way street to drug addiction and all...

I'm just bustin yer chops ya know, take it like a man

Yo. In prison, this one guy had a harmonica. He didn't really play R&B though. Especially since he only knew She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain When She Comes. I was his biggest fan.
