Life is obstinate and clings closest where it is most hated.
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (1797–1851)
Keep watching this thread, maybe something will inspire the muse.

"Life is obstinate and clings closest where it is most hated."

A grey walled cell not fit for the stock cattle they lead to slaughter
humanely, but she sits in the middle on a concrete slope that leads
to the drain in the middle. She's watched life slide away down
into a soiled trench and wishes her fingers could release this string.

A thread connecting this battered framework to life and living
as a crude recipient of merciless starvation, unrelenting beatings
and punishment in uncooperative masturbation that has long passed
its ability to rouse her into caring. They don't understand

they've lost in the winning of her indifference. Now, if she could only
let go the string and float free of this torment found while waiting
for another letter from caring people who wouldn't keep cattle
in the mess she's in. Maybe the beating it brings will help her to die.
