I was reminded, recently, of a number of little quirks in the way my husband and I make love. We've been married for fourteen years and were each other's first lover.
We're so set in our ways that when I'm occasionally with someone else, I have to remember that most people don't do it like that. Thankfully, the long-time friend I was with has a good sense of humor about it.
As an example... apparently, most women thrust their hips rhythmically in time with a man as he thrusts in an out. When hubby and I do it, I usually raise my hips and hold there while he does all of the in and out.
If you aren't used to moving in time with a man as he's fucking you, it's not easy to get the hang of it. I find it very difficult to push and pull just enough and at the right rhythm to make it good for for him without throwing him off balance or pulling back so far that he pops out.
... and the muscles in my back and legs that do those motions get fatigued very easily from lack of exercise.
Some of my quirks are based on always having my husband on my right as we lay in bed. I like having my left nipple stroked and kissed differently from the right one. It is much easier for me to stroke a man off with my left hand than it is with my right.
Even kissing can be really strange with someone else. If almost every passionate kiss you have ever had has been with one particular person, you might only know how to do it their way. It's incredibly awkward to try and figure out how to make your lips and tongue dance with someone else.
Is it just me? I admit that the variety of my experience is quite limited. I can count on one hand the number of male lovers I have *ever* had sex with (and women are a whole different story).
Is it different for people who spend a few years being single and having multiple relationships (rather than falling in love and getting married at age twenty)? Do you eventually learn "normal" ways of doing things, or is a new sexual partner always a challenge?
