Tara's distinctive ringtone, Moonlight Rendezvous, pulled her away from the group watching a shirtless Ryan--Why is he topless?--throwing food around to answer her phone. It wasn't abnormal for her to get a call late at night but she didn't recognize the number on display. "Hello?"
Elevator music trilled in her ear for a few seconds and then a boisterous male voice stated, "Hello! My name is Donald and I'm calling from Blackwood Aluminum Siding. I would like to make--" She didn't feel at all bad for hanging up on the unwanted and undesired telemarketer. Why would anyone want to purchase siding at this time of the night? Or from a phone call even? She shook her head a bit as she rejoined Sid and the gang by the island.
"This place has a lot of character, Tara. It's beautiful. I'd just...be worried about it being haunted, or something." Brooke laughed nervously.
She grinned at the normally vibrant and spunky blonde. Her eyes flared open with exaggerated innocence. Lowering her voice, she leaned closer to Brooke and whispered, "Sometimes, late at night I hear faint singing come up from the living room. The Church may actually be haunted! Maybe by the artist that renovated the place."
Brooke looked spooked and Tara caved with a laugh. "No no! I'm kidding. I don't think the Church is haunted."
Brian was a bit of a big bad Wolf. Making his choices of liquor that will undoubtedly get them all plastered sound like an enticing, almost innocent drink that we should all dive into with joy. Speaking of which, Logan doesn't drink. Tara grinned and laughed as Brian rattled off some charmingly obnoxious reasons for why he picked out a flavor for each woman present.
Half listening, she pulled out the pitcher of cold oolong tea that Yuki had sent as a gift, put a glass of water, an empty glass for tea and the pitcher onto a tray. She called Logan over and gave him the tray. "I know you don't drink and I'm pretty sure the gang is going to play a ridiculous drinking game tonight. Take this. This way you can drink with us and not indulge in the moonshine. This is a cold oolong tea that I got from a good friend of mine. I think you'll like it."
She poured herself a glass of tea, walked back to the island and was about to drink it when Brian came up to her. "She opened her doors for us. For some of you she opened up her home. She sweetly stands next to be here for the her fellow co-worker. She is quick to sit down with the guys in the band, she cleans the kitchen when not asked, and she can keep up with the best damn bartender in all of Seattle. So here, in this cathedral she brought us too, I give to you no better drink that describes our Tara -- no better makes us think of her -- no one flavor that could do less to sum up who she is."
He pulled out a jar and placed it in front of Tara. The label had a pair of bright red cherries. She laughed as she rolled her eyes, turned into his loose hug and bit his chest. "Cherry huh? What am I? Ripe for the picking?"
She stuck her tongue out at him, made a small shot of the Cherry Moonshine, clinked it against Brian's glass and shot it down. Sweetness overrode her taste buds as a wicked burn made its way down her throat and beyond. Tara's eyes reflexibly shut in response as her throat tightened and she expelled air with a gasp. "Whew! That's really strong! We better go easy on this stuff."
Brooke called for the group to leave the kitchen and everyone picked up food or drinks to take into the living room. Once there, Joe actually ran with Tara's joke about a party game and started Spin the Bottle. When the bottle ended on Ethan, the expression on Joe's face was priceless! He couldn't drink his penalty shots fast enough.
Avery was Ethan's target but he seemed lost in dream and some of the shy brunette's spirit came out as she leaned across the circle to give the lost bus boy a light kiss. The bottle's next target was good ole Brian and he gave a victor's yell of "Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!" before giving a grand performance of evening by landing into the curvy brunette's lap and taking a more romantic kiss.
Sid leaned towards Tara during Brian's antics and started to say,
“Hey look…I know it’s a bad time but I seriously need to talk to you…” But stopped talking when the bottle landed between Tara and her. With a sigh Sid shrugged and gave another shake of her head.
“Looks like a four-way to me,” Sid said before she gave Tara a side long glance and stepped forward.
Tara's eyebrows lifted towards the ceiling as she watched the abrupt female cook with loads of attitude stalk over to the odd couple and kissed Avery with ease. Then Sid came back to state, “We need to talk. When yer done with him…or her…” Sid retorted under her breath and let go of her arm before stalking off without another word. At least she started to, before she spun yet again and snatched a hold of a bottle and gave it a good spin. Only then did she wander off, even as the bottle came to a stop on Ryan.
"Ha! Who can follow that?" Tara asked rhetorically before bouncing up from her seat to cross the small circle. She kneeled in front of Avery and Brian, hugged them both and gave each one a quick smooch on the lips. "Apple Lemon! Yum! You guys keep going. I forgot that I needed to show Sid around and see if she wants to move in."
She bounced back up to leave the small group and paused to stop with her hands on her hips to state, "By kissing count, Avery is definitely winning. Two girls and two guys! Who knew she was an irresistible siren?" Laughing softly, she headed back down the hallway to find Sid and show her the place she may be calling her new home.
