Emotionally truthful or historically accurate? It rang true emotionally to me, as for the historical accuracy I really don't know enough about the subject to say (never cared enough to go and look it up either.)

I have a deep fondness for this movie . I think Geoffrey Rush in his portrayal of de Sade gives us glimpses of the joy and genius of the man himself.

I've seen it and I LOVED it! It was both hilarious and moving...the twists were good too. The acting was superb...
