I'm sorry if this appears ubiquitous and tiresome to those of you who frequent this place, but I have made a decent effort to search previous posts and while I found some relevant information I couldn't quite find what I was looking for.

I'm yet another author doing research, and the story contains some fairly light BDSM. All I want is a little basic information about the marks left by an ordinary spanking, with a hand, not any kind of tool. At my current crossroad a girl has just been spanked fairly hard by hand, maybe 15-20 times, the night before. I want to know what kind of marks could or would be left the next day that fall short of welts or serious bruising.

What is the lightest kind of mark that could be left that would still be relatively easily seen? Can there simply be a lasting redness, or will it always turn into a yellowish bruise at the very least?

I think ideally what I would like for my story is for her to have some red marks left behind that look quite similar to those she would have after being freshly spanked, including at least a little bit of detail so that you could see it was a hand that spanked her. But I don't want to write this if it's not realistic.

I'd also like to know how much pain would accompany the marking, either constant aching or sensitivity to touch, and how long the marks would take to go away.

Thanks, and stay freaky

Every body reacts differently to such things. Some people's skin will bruise rather easily and some won't. But after 10-15 spanks by hand, there won't be that much the next day for most people. Oh, there might be a slight redness, a little blotchy type of thing, but I'd think it would take more spanks to have any real redness and sensitivity the following day.

There is a chance that if the woman was skinny and the hand happened to land on her hip bone, there could be a bruise form from that. But, if you're looking for residual red marks that resemble a hand print or marks that come near to bruises, I'd say it's not likely.

On very light colored skin, one or two well placed, and very hard smacks could maybe leave an imprint of a hand. But more than that would just redden the whole area. Unfortunately, I don't have a female ass near by to give it a whack, but maybe there's someone else on this forum who could do a little experiment for you, if you can't do it, yourself.

I'm pretty darn fair-skinned. And slender, but not skinny. And I agree: one or two good, hard whacks will leave a nice, pretty, red handprint on my ass. Fifteen to twenty will leave splotchy red and purple marks the next day, sometimes in a pattern that could still be recognized as hand-/fingerprints, depending upon the proclivities of the viewer. Either could leave me feeling it the next day...a slightly achey tenderness, especially when sitting down or standing up from a seated position. And, of course, if given the lightest of pats on the ass by him the next morning with a knowing smile.

I love the lasting reminders.

Good luck with your story!

Like most have said, it varies from person to person. In the early days I bruised beautifully and it lasted for several days, though usually required a lot of flogging or whipping, or a heavy wooden paddle to get a result. These days the marks do not happen easily at all, and usually disappear within 30 minutes maximum, with hand spanking being non-existant in about 10 minutes. And yet, I can bump lightly into furniture and have a bruise for days. Go figure.

Catalina:rose:

I am a red head, and on my lily white behind a firm hand can leave a definite print that can last up to two days. (Yes please):caning: :p

Different people react to different degrees, but few people will be visibly marked 24 hours after a spanking. Neither of my two current playthings both white, and both fairly fair skinned) would show any noticeable marks 24 hours after a fairly hard hand spanking. Floggers, on the whole, are in my experience similar - temporary reddening of the skin but nothing lasting. The tawse, on the other hand, leaves clear, distinct visible marks and bruising for several days, and raised puffy weals lasting several hours but not typically as long as 24. A riding crop leaves localised bruises but no other lasting marks.

If you want marks visible the next day, a tawse, belt, crop, whip or cane is what you need. If your character is dark skinned, then a tawse or a whip.
