The baby is the second coming of Christ. Think about it. Reyes kept seeing a weird stationary light in the sky, Mulder said he followed the light to find Scully in the end. Also the baby was not born by sex but by computerchip in her neck. Immaculate technological conception. The baby is supposed to be Christ. Quite a stretch I think. Of course next season a "Herrod" will be oput killing babies and such.

I don't think she'll be back either. Most "New Mom" actresses quit their jobs, if only for a few years, to take care of their babies and family. Who knows? Brad might want her to stay at their Pitt.

Loved the episode. I also think that Gillian is leaving the show - except for maybe occaisional appearances and maybe she signed some contract to do a few episodes about the baby? But Scully and Mulder are gone and we have the new team now. I'm still looking forward to the next season - I like these new characters.

So - Scully had an "immaculate" conception... and the light in the sky? the THREE lone gunmen bearing gifts? (THEY are the 3 wise men? *lol*) I guess this makes Mulder the new Joseph? I wonder now that he's no longer in the FBI if he'll become a carpenter?

And the baby is called William? The etymology of the name William is very interesting in the context of the show. Its source is wil helm, an Ancient Germanic phrase meaning "Determined protector."
