I have read through many posts here and I was just wanting to ask a few questions before jumping in head first. First off is this forum mainly for erotic poetry or just any type of poetry? I dont want to post something that is not considered on topic. Also, is there any type of erotic poetry that is considered obscene here? Like graphic descriptions of sexual acts. Not talking about beast or illegal matter; just graphic descriptions of sexual relations between adults. Those are the main questions. Just for reference though most of my poetry deals with horror/death and hardcore erotic as I like to call it. I posted in the past at www.cocainekiss.com before they discontinued service and have just recently discovered this forum here. Thank you for any advice or comments. Take care. Later.

Welcome Aboard Wkdclwn

If you will scroll down the page, you will see a thread by riff. It is chock full of info about the poetry here at Lit.

When you submit a poem, you have a choice of classifying it as erotic or non-erotic.

I hope this helps you. Let us know if you have any more questions. We'll look forward to reading some of your work!

P.S. Graphic descriptions of the sexual act are permitted as long as the characters are of age.

A few suggestions

Visit this page, it has a lot of valuable information. >> Site Contents

Submission Guidelines <snip> By submitting a story to Literotica, you certify the following stipulations to be true:
- You are the sole creator of the submission;
- You are 18 years of age or older and legally able to write, submit and read erotic or pornographic material;
- You grant Literotica the right to publish your submission as received by Literotica.com.

I hope this helps you out some! Welcome and have fun. :D

Thank you both very much. All of that was a great help indeed. However there are just two things I am still fuzzy on. I know I am asking alot from you all and I apologize beforehand. After reading all of that do I submit poetry and then let whomever read it read it and then they decide if it gets posted or do I submit it here by just starting a thread? Second question concerns the granting of rights for publishing. Most of my poetry is already copyrighted in the copyright office in Washington. Would that pose any problem if I submitted it? Thank you for your responses thus far and your time. Take care. Later.

also,

Washington is a place in time and space.
My advise would be to
just
don't
worry
about
it.

Go ahead and submit your poems. Once they're posted on the New Poems List, feel free to bring them in here and start a thread asking for feedback.

As far as the copyright is concerned, I don't have a clue but it seems to me that, like smithpeter said, don't worry about it. You do, after all, hold the copyright no matter where you take them.

Hope this helps.

poet--

There are several avenues for protecting your work. If you choose to share your work and have taken steps to protect it, I wouldn't worry too much about it being plagiarized.

Post your work to the site first. Come to the forum and ask for feedback including a link to your work here. That is Laurel's preference.

Occasionally, we have quickie exercises here so you may see some poems here that are not posted on the site. When I run an exercise, I always encourage poets to post works to the site first out of respect for Laurel's wishes.

Literoitca is a porn site. I think erotic poetry is expected here. :) There's an appreciation for non-erotic work as well.

Welcome to the forum.

Peace,

daughter

Submissions

Wkdclwn -

You can submit your work through your member page. After you login and go to your member page, the is a sub-heading entitled "submissions." Click on that and I believe you get three choices. One of them is to submit new work. Click on that. Then it's two choices, submit a poem or submit a story. Click on submit a poem.

This last click will take you to a submission form page, where you can title your story, select Erotic or Non-erotic and paste your story into the box below. It also allows you to select search keywords for people who use the search engine to find stuff they like and there are a few other little options, warnings and notes you will likely need to read.

After you have submitted a poem, it is usually posted to the New Poetry listing by the next day (not always, but usually). Stories take longer, usually three to four days.

Have fun! And welcome!
