Why do you write here?

Is your work always erotic? If not, do you put up your non-erotic work for public scrutiny?

Who do you write for? Yourself? A lover? A target audience? Or do you zone into the story and characters, forgetting the reader?

Do you just write erotica for kicks?

Do you want to go pro? If so, what kind of writing do you want to do?

Why do you write here? Beacuse I find the community here to be refreshing and have developed freindships among the other regulars.

Is your work always erotic? If not, do you put up your non-erotic work for public scrutiny? All my work posted here is erotic. I do write non erotic tales, but post them to a different place.

Who do you write for? Yourself? A lover? A target audience? Or do you zone into the story and characters, forgetting the reader?

I write for myself. I do zone into my characters and they tell the tale, but at it's core, writing is my escape from my world.

Do you just write erotica for kicks? No

Do you want to go pro? If so, what kind of writing do you want to do?

I would love to be able to earn a living writing. No idea what kind of writing I am most suited to.

Why do you write here?
Because it's a really cool place to stretch my wings as an author, to grow a little (hopefully), and learn from other authors here.

Is your work always erotic? If not, do you put up your non-erotic work for public scrutiny?
No, not always. I haven't put anything non-erotic up here, just because it doesn't really seem like the correct outlet for it.

Who do you write for? Yourself? A lover? A target audience? Or do you zone into the story and characters, forgetting the reader?
Um....all of the above? I basically write for myself. If readers like it, that's a great bonus. Once I start on a story, it almost writes itself.

Do you just write erotica for kicks?
Sort of - like I said, this is a good place to learn what works for you, whether you use that knowledge to write more erotica or not.

Do you want to go pro? If so, what kind of writing do you want to do?
Eventually, sure. Whether that'll ever happen or not, who knows? It's nice to dream about it, though.

Not sure what kind I'll eventually drift into, but I seem to have a knack for fantasy/romance. Whether that'll be the same a year from now is anyone's guess.

Mind if I ask why you're interested in the answers?

Why do you write here?
I fell across this place a long time ago and it answered a need I had to have somewhere to house my "less mainstream" stories.

Is your work always erotic? If not, do you put up your non-erotic work for public scrutiny?
My main writing is (mainly) non-erotic but I have a specialist place for that.

Who do you write for? Yourself? A lover? A target audience? Or do you zone into the story and characters, forgetting the reader?
Myself, and I fall into the stories and characters so for them too. I don't have a specific target audience in mind when I write, as I usually choose the category after I've seen where the story has taken me.

Do you just write erotica for kicks?
I did at first, now its just another outlet for my creative muses.

Do you want to go pro? If so, what kind of writing do you want to do?
I am semi-pro, just not with my erotica.

No. It's a fair question.

I've been reading stories here on and off for about two years, and began to wonder what compels the more regular authors to stay and keep writing erotica.

Thanks for the response, cloudy. Colleen, you too.

Hey! *pouts* What about me?

((kidding! You're welcome ;)))

Sorry about that! I think it was just bad post timing. Yours wasn't up yet when I initially clicked to respond to cloudy. I only saw it after posting the reply. Thank you, too. ;)

And congrats on making a little cash with your writing.

Why do you write here?

I wrote an erotic story in answer to a challenge from a girl I know online. It came out pretty good and I wanted to find a home for it. So I came here. Lots of good writing here if you know where to look.

Is your work always erotic? If not, do you put up your non-erotic work for public scrutiny?

My story on here is my only erotica I have ever written. I have an "erotic horror" story coming out in an anthology in October, but there really isn't anything erotic about it. My only non-erotic work available for public scrutiny, for free, is a sample of my novel on the AuthorHouse website - www.mr-undesirable.com

Who do you write for? Yourself? A lover? A target audience? Or do you zone into the story and characters, forgetting the reader?

I always write for myself first. With my story here on Lit I wrote it with two women specifically in mind. They both loved it, but it kind of struck a nerve with a lot of women. I'd have to see women are my target audience for my erotica. With my usual writing my target audience is geared toward sick and brutal comedy.

Do you just write erotica for kicks?

Sort of. I keep thinking about writing and posting some more on here, but I always get side tracked with working on my next novel.

Do you want to go pro? If so, what kind of writing do you want to do?

I have gone pro. And I want to write everything. I have seventeen novels fully planned and plotted, in varying genres, just waiting for me to get around to them. I have a few screenplay ideas, as well as a children's book in the works. My first novel, Mr. Undesirable, is on the verge of being optioned for a film. I'm just waiting for a good deal to come through.

Why do you write here?

Seemed like the logical place to publish erotica.

Is your work always erotic? If not, do you put up your non-erotic work for public scrutiny?

No, but all of my fiction is (erotic). And yes, my non-erotic (non-fiction) work is widely distributed and very well received.

Who do you write for? Yourself? A lover? A target audience? Or do you zone into the story and characters, forgetting the reader?

Myself, mostly. I lose myself in a story -- and it takes on a life of its own. Often, I'll have trouble moving on to the next story because the previous one won't let go of me.

Do you just write erotica for kicks?

Kinda. I like the idea of my words stimulating thousands of readers.

Do you want to go pro? If so, what kind of writing do you want to do?

I'm not actively seeking it, but if a publisher bit me on the butt, I'd probably bite back.

I came here first when searching advice on writing and after reading for some time I wanted to see if I could write an erotic story too.

Is your work always erotic? If not, do you put up your non-erotic work for public scrutiny?
I started with writing non-erotic fiction, but that's not public or finished. At the moment all I write is erotic. It will wear off, perhaps?

Who do you write for? Yourself? A lover? A target audience? Or do you zone into the story and characters, forgetting the reader?
I write because I got this images in my head that I want to bring out. Once started though, the story often takes over.

Do you just write erotica for kicks?
No, it's a good way to hone my skills, if any. I sometimes make it more erotic to fit in. The feedback here is very useful.

Do you want to go pro? If so, what kind of writing do you want to do?
Yes, I would love that.
I started out with science fiction and fantasy but I'm wondering if history isn't more my scene. And adventure.

Do you just write erotica for kicks?

Why do I write here? Because this is one place where I can show my talent and love for writing without meeting deadlines and fighting with an editor.

My non-erotic? Yes, my co-workers have read them and loved them. Many think I should follow writing. I just don't want to deal with a professional writers life of deadlines. Here, I can write what I want, when I want. That gives me the artistic freedom I want.

Who do I write for? I write for myself. I try to do my best, even though some of my stories suck. Most have hot ratings. It's those that don't I learn from. I never forget the reader. I write primarily in the first person. Which for some is rather difficult. For me it's second nature. I write for the reader and for those who email me because they enjoy my writing.

Do I write erotica for kicks? No, if I was looking for kicks I'd run out and work to get a golf score as a scratch. I write erotica because that is life. It's a part of life that is there and denied by many. There is nothing more erotic and loving than having sex with the one you love. Many today may turn their eyes. But they do peek. Erotica is growing. It's no longer Playboys between the mattresses.

Do I want to go professional? I'd love to write professionally. But to do that I'd have to make certain adjustments. I'm a nurse. So I'd have to make at least that salary. I also would want artistic freedom. I can understand a mags theme for the month, but I'd want to write what I felt was best not what an editor told me to write. I can meet deadlines, but I hate to pushed by them. Somedays, especially lately, we as humans have problems and need to work them out. There is no way I can write on a day like that. But, when I'm rolling, I can sit and write a good story in one day. Most of my h rated stories were written in a matter of hours. Some, took a couple of days. I just have to have the inspiration. Then, I can work it out and write it quickly. Do an edit, rewrite and have it ready.

I write here because a friend recommended Lit a few years ago. I looked, I liked, and I have been here ever since.

No; I write a variety that ranges from erotica to children's fiction, fantasy to horror, zombie stories and superhero stories and fanfiction and RPG stuff. And yes, it's all out there. Some published, some on other sites.

I primarily write for myself, though I have done a few stories for friends, my husband, my kid. But basically, I feel that if I'm not interested in and passionate about what I'm writing, nobody else is going to be interested in or passionate about reading it.

I write erotica for the challenge and for the fun.

I'm partly pro already, with several books and some short story sales. Right now, I am concentrating on becoming a horror novelist. I think that's where my heart truly lies.

Because I feel like I have things to say... that's why I write here. I don't have any non-erotic work that isn't philosophy, so I don't think it'd go over well.

I write entirely for my girl. I want to arouse her, embarrass her a little, impress her, and entertain her.

I don't think I'd like to do it for a living, though... the writing erotica thing. I've written and been published in Philosophy and I used to be a journalist, for a while, with Op Ed pieces (philosophically centered). I think I'd like to write and be paid for it, but not really erotica.

Why do you write here?

Migrated here because this place has the best authors that I want to learn from and be associated with.

Written but haven't posted any non-erotic yet, although I'm sure there are readers that would argue that.

All of the above, at the same time. Communication is essential but not really motivational. I multi-task, but I'm still trying to figure out how to urinate and masturbate at the same time .... sorry, momentary lapse of judgement.

Do you just write erotica for kicks?

I write because the voices in my head tell me to. They tell me to go where the market is. This is the Pornonet, right?

Maybe when I'm retired, just for the stroke of getting paid for something I would do for free. Found out I like history from writing. Tried writing a story about my mentally handicapped brother years ago and it's still nagging me.

I was told about this site a few months ago and after reading a few stories, collaborated my cyber experiences into my first story :D

Is your work always erotic? If not, do you put up your non-erotic work for public scrutiny?

I have always added a sex scene to my stories (edited before I let my mum see them LOL). The readers mostly come here to read smut, so smut they get.

Who do you write for? Yourself? A lover? A target audience? Or do you zone into the story and characters, forgetting the reader?

I write for myself, my lover and my readers. Researching as much as I can, because I know my readers aren't stupid so I like to know what I'm writing about.

Do you just write erotica for kicks?

Yes. and No. I write it because it's fun.

Do you want to go pro? If so, what kind of writing do you want to do?

I would LOVE to be a published Horror author. Since writing a few in this genre, I haven't touched the other categories. I've found my calling and hoping my Halloween entry will be my best yet, and a reflection on how much I love this genre.
