I have been pondering about getting my nipples pierced. I have had my navel and tongue pierced. My questions about nipple piercings are these:

How long is the healing time?
Does it positively or negatively affect sensitivity?
Is there a lot of scarring?

For those of you who have had this done, what was your personal experiences?

Any answeres would be appreciated! Thank you pet petra

Go For it!!

Sounds like you're already an experienced person, in regards to getting things pierced. Have you discussed this idea with your piercer??

Healing times vary. I was enjoying someone suckling on mine (only did one, so I could enjoy the contrast) after about six weeks. It is much more sensitive than the unpierced one.

How have your others healed? and what scarring? I'd think it would heal quicker than the navel.

Also, the sensitivity can change based on the jewelry you choose after it's healed. I've worn some nipple guards that caught on too much clothing and made the nipple really sore.

Good Luck...Enjoy the rush. If you hate it, take it out. Won't take more than a few days to close up again.

My favorite is the clit hood....Luv it!

ahh..nipple rings *gives her own a tug* i would say bear your nips for the needles' tips. but for the love of god, get it done professionally! i made the mistake of doing my own. with safety pins. when i was about 14. sometimes, i'm so stupid, i amaze myself. mine became infected and terribly painful. however, they were back to normal within a month (bear in mind this is NOT normal healing time, this is my extended time cuz i fucked up) and i immediatly noticed an increase in sensitivity. i had never been lucky enough to have been blessed with nipples that do anything besides sit there, but after the rings were in, my nipples were finally awake. so...ok, i've kind of rambled for a bit, but the point here is that my advice is do it.

I had them done at one point and they weren't for me. Mine never seemed to heal quite right...the left did fine, the right kept getting infected and/or irrritated.

Even when they were "good" they still weren't very good. I could only wear certain bras, and the week and half before my period was HELL on earth.

The full healing time is for-fucking-ever, so if you enjoy nipple play, that's pretty much off limits for AT LEAST 3-6 months, longer for some people. That means no oral contact, no one else's hands, hell, not even your own unless you're cleaning the piercing.

I know some people really enjoy them, I just wasn't one of them.

I've stated this before (in this same forum within the last month) so please ignore this if you have seen this before.

I have a lover whose comment about nipple piercing was thus:

He had his ears pierced years back. He does not wear any jewelry now and has not for years. BUT..he still has shit oozing out at times. That white pus stuff that is nasty and stinky.

Does this occur with nipple piercings as well? He is not willing to find out. And honestly, the idea grosses me out.

I have a labial and hood pericing and do nto experience this with either (that I am aware of) but I can tell you that since I have had it done, I have had only one lover willing to lick me there. Everyone else is fearful of "what they might do!"

Unless you are in a committed legal relationship and your partner wants this as well as yourself AND you have researched every angle AND gotten the stories from people who are 10 and 15 post piercing to see the long-term affects,
I would not suggest piercing your nipples.

It's not pus, it's sebum. And it's totally normal. You produce it all over your body. Yes, it would happen with healed nipple piercings as well. As long as you keep the piercing clean, it shouldn't be a problem.

The only time odor arises is when the piercing, or the hole if there is not jewelry in it (and no, some holes DO NOT close if you've had the piercing for a while) is if it's not cleaned regulary. All it takes is a wash in the shower. If you choose not to wear jewelry any more, until the hole closes (again, if it will), run some jewelry through it to get the sebum out.

One can still breastfeed if you have or have had nipple piercings, just make sure you take the jewelry out before feeding. Obviously. :) Infection is a biggie to watch for though, or you can get a nasty case of mastitis.

I had one of my nipples (I also love having a contrast! :D ), about 7 years ago.
I absolutely loved the experience (quick & intense) and giggled nearly the whole way through!
I waited about 2 months before changing jewellery. I did have a little trouble with healing but I blame this on myself as I couldn't stop playing with it!
I love changing jewellery from a bar to different styles of rings, freaky looking shields etc.
Now, I would feel lost without it.

:D

Research and Caution!

I Totally agree on the "get a professional" angle.

My research on the labia and clit hood took almost three years. Talking to others who'd had it done, discussing the varieties available, discussing it with my partner, and then exhaustive conversations with the piercer who was going to do it. I even had him change out my nipple ring to see how comfortable I was going to be with him doing the more intimate piercings.

Someone posted about others being hesitant to approach a piercing, not sure what they would do. COMMUNICATION....tell them what movements of their fingers and tongue make for the most pleasure, what Not to do (sucking on my clit hood bar ruins the mood, licking is divine!), and the experience will more sensual and pleasing for all involved.

Check out a variety of body modification sites, compare the information, and compare what you read with what your piercer is telling you. Is that person trained? using a sterile enviroment? going to be available for after care and help?

Despite every warning, I managed to pass out in a grocery store the afternoon of my labia piercings. Don't underestimate the seriousness of what you're considering.

Still...jewelry can be removed much more easily than tattoos can be taken off.

Enjoy!

if you get your nipples peirced and change your mind, do the nipples look normal when you're done with the jewlery? do they go back to how they were?

I had my nipples pierced for a few years and had to take them out because they were starting to migrate (out -- so my nipples would have been split horizontally -- ugh!)

My nipples took about 6 months to heal well enough to play with -- not abnormal for nipples. I did a lot of research before I got them done and 3 to 6 months is about normal.

Since I've taken out the rings (about 4 or 5 months) the nipples look like I've had them pierced -- there are holes on either side of the nipple itself. I don't scar too much (no keloids or anything) but the nipples look like they've been pierced and now don't have jewelry in them...

Do lots of research and go to the best piercer you can -- don't be cheap!

yeah, whenever i take my jewlery out for cleaning, the piercings are very obvious.

follow the advice given so far and you cannot go top far wrong, that is get it done professionaly and look after it in accordance with what it is, a hole in your body.

From experince i would add stick to straight jewellery to start with, internal threads and some spare room, not too much though.

Avoid Captive Bead Rings as they are only nice to look at. if you want to play use straight or curved barbells after a time to heal.

My healing took only a few weeks and it is great when played with.

i have both nipples pierced and am considering a PA and/or frenum. i echo, best to have it done by a professional. i did a nipple and my first frenum (which i've removed, a mistake) myself and didn't experience any complications. i had my second nipple done professionally and it was a wonderful experience.
