Since I'm new here, I want to gauge the members here to see what constitutes a good loving wives selection and what things to avoid doing when writing for that category. I've read several selections from that category, and most of them or trashed one way or another.

Welcome and beware.

The LW section seems to consist of three different types of story: genuinely loving wives, cheating wives and cuckholded husbands. Each has its readership and they all hate each other and the other two types of story. Write to any and you will be damned to hell by fans of the others. Most of us here in the AH avoid the genre except when we want to write something just to piss people off. Then we laugh at the outrage. If that's your bag, go for it. Otherwise, you might want to consider a different style of story. Just sayin' . . .

wow, that is the most hilarious thing I've read/heard in awhile. As I'm not quite ready to stir the pot like that yet, erotic couplings here I come.

and what things to avoid doing when writing for that category
LOL! Avoid writing for it! ;) As said, no matter what you write, you'll be condemned by picky/unhappy readers who don't like what you decided to do. Make yourself happy, that's the best advice when you're writing up Loving Wives.

When I delved into the LW category the bad more than cancelled out the good. That is, one 1 vote takes a ton of 5 votes to recoup.

The fun part about LW is that the readers take it very seriously and will give you feedback that is often longer than the story itself.

I've not got the hang of LW, but look to the top lists to see what sticks. No matter what you'll likely get both hammered and praised.

Enjoy!

That's why when I write for LW I don't do it for the score...actually I don't write for the score period...I write for the laughs. The laughs I have about all the comments from the three camps in LW trolldom.

I actually enjoy writing for the trolls in LW, everyone needs an outlet for their hatred and I so no reason not to give it to them.

I was of two minds which probably jinxed me. On one hand I was trying to crack the code, but I couldn't keep the baiting out of the story. ;):)

There's a saying in my family which fits here quite nicely:

"Oh, you cannot win."

A  for the little newbie from the good little witch.

So if you write a story about a genuinely loving and devoted wife who accidently witnesses her brothers fiance cheating on him with another woman and her cuckolded husband you'd hit all three genres! Sounds like a sure bet to me, might have to draft a plot :).

It's a sure bet to piss off all three groups. You might struggle to get any votes higher than a 2.

Hi, Psyburn, and welcome to AH. :)

Stories in the LW category will earn you the disdain and one-bombs and insults of a high percentage of readers. If this bothers you, you probably should avoid the category. Personally, I like to post stories there just to laugh at the frothing-at-the-mouth comments. :D

ETA: I have one story in LW that has 85,000 views and 31 comments and has an H. Here are some of the nasty comments:

AGREE WITH YOU xxxxx

I also think that the guy that fucks another mans wife is the asshole, low life bastard. As for the wife she is nothing but a cheating whore. Enough Said

Ready For Fuck and Suck 2

Author has ability but no reality yet. So far just another cuckolding slut wife and asshole neighbor with bigger tongue than concern or respect.

So, author, does wife divorce loving but otherwise non-satisfying hubby or does she continue to keep braindead cuckolded hubby in dark but providing roof and livelihood for her - or will there be some reality - you know like life type???

It seems you may have some talent - perhaps more than just fuck, suck and cuckolding type talent - Do you?

Will she get caught?

Hmmm. Maybe we have a controlling husband, maybe not. All we do know is that this scum doesn't respect anyone being in a relationship. He is also just out there for the sex. It also appears Annie is just out there for sex. Is her husband good to her in other ways? If the husband is a real jerk, then she should divorce him and find someone else. As it is, I hope the husband catches them and gets the evidence not only to make the divorce stick, but to give his wife the shaft when it comes to dividing the assets. If the husband doesn't catch them, and he is not abusive then this is just another one of those cheating wives/wimpy husbands with no consequences. This site has more than enough of that crap.

again no imagination

a cheating wife ... and her ass hole friend ... why not be nice to hubby now ...so he wont be as hurt later.... let him find a nice woman before its to late... wife has her lover ...let hubby go... before he kills wife and friend ..she did say he was jealous

So, the HUSBAND is the asshole?

At least you didn't have the cheating wife proclaiming her everlasting love for the man she is betraying. I was waiting for the selfish asshole who was poaching on another man's life to proclaim how much he really liked the poor shmuck he was doing his damndest to destroy.

Just another selfish, cheating wife story loudly proclaiming there is nothing to intimacy or marriage other than a particular act of sex.

And, as always ,another brain dead

woman with no self respect or control.

just another cheater
04/26/05 By: Anonymous in Kalifornia
well written descriptions, but just another cheater. you nicely avioded the cliches, no cuck, no big cock, no blacks.

just a woman who wants to cheat & her lover.

Some of the readers seem unable to distinguish between fact and fiction.

Haha, I'm lovin these comments. Basically, if you like stirring the pot then post stories there and watch the people lose their minds. Eventually, I'll post something there.

I posted in LW.

Within the first 8 hours of the story posting, I think the score was around a 1.8. I had people wanting to drag me behind their car. I had people send me emails in hopes that they might set me on the good path to righteousness. I received unsolicited marriage counseling and more name calling than Obama and George W. received combined.
For the record, I don't care about the score (rating? Whatever it's called). If you do, then stay out of LW. You will not receive anything near an objective assessment of your story in the score.

On the other hand, I received a ton of positive feedback and lots of favorites. I never expected so many kind emails, and I have to commend those who took the time to write.

Unfortunately, however, because of the vileness of many responses to my first chapter, I wrote Ch. 2 with the sole intent of pissing off my detractors from Ch. 1. I turned my protagonist into a wholly different person. Now I have destroyed my own story. How stupid of me.

It appears that very few of the good authors venture into LW. Some feel that all the mudslinging is good for Lit business, but I have never heard of customer dissatisfaction being good for business. To look at it from a different angle, who would decide, “Hey! Let’s create a category that will keep out most of the good authors!” Makes no sense to me.

In a thread elsewhere someone questioned whether it might not be a good idea to split up the LW category. Initially, I didn’t think so, but I have since changed my mind.

The LW readers are a strange bunch. There is no way to explain their motives. Any person's reason for reading erotica is their own, but most people read for solitary pleasure.

It's a thrill to read about sticking a penis(or whatever is close at hand) into a vagina (or whatever is close at hand).

Some people like the extra thrill of an illicit penis or whatever, and others feel so violated, they must write the author to tell them the concept is horrible.

I imagine there are some people, both men and women, for whom the ultimate fantasy is to find a sensitive, gentle and faithful lover. Their rough path in life has left them unable to find or keep such a person.

That's not our fault, is it? I ignore them, just like I ignore the guy who stands on the corner and screams at passing traffic.

As for business and customers, the product Lit sells is not our stories and the readers are not the customers. Lit sells eyeballs on the monitor to the advertisers. There is no reason for Manu and Laurel to care if the readers love or hate the story, just so long as they click on the page.

Good point! And LW certainly produces clicks!

For whatever it's worth, I'll post again in LW. I kinda like it there. It has that delicious mix of pain and pleasure.

Some Really Great Points Being Made......

My husband and I could only nod our heads at a lot of the great points that were made in this thread. As a relative novice, I knew that there might be some negativism about my and Gary's "adventures". However, I didn't anticipate that there would be so many sexually repressed little limpd*cks on a site such as this. As I mentioned in a private message, I can only picture them frantically keying in their cr*p from the safety of their parents' basements where they live. In a way, I pity them but they really need to get out and get a life.

Welcome to the AH.

I recently found that the negative aura of the LW category (which scared me off for several years) is mostly fabricated. My first LW post got more reads in the first day (42k!) than my four EC entries combined, so if reads are what you're after and your story fits, and you have a balanced perspective/sense of humor, then I recommend LW, especially if you have something interesting to contribute. Sure, the score is lower than normal, but what's the point of writing if you don't maximize your exposure, right?

For me, it's the gratification of getting so many reads, knowing people are dwelling on similar topics...this makes my for-free writing worth it.

If you feel the same, take extra time to make sure your story is airtight and edited, understand that there are strongly opinionated/sensitive readers lurking, then you will probably be satisfied posting in LW versus EC.

Happy writing.

It is true that LW gets a lot of reads, certainly more than EC. If that is your main concern, write in Anal or Incest or First Time. I n my experience, they get more reads than any other categories. 42,000 reads in the first day seems like a lot.

Loving Wives???

Love reading the feedback on this topic. I submitted two stories into the Group Sex category that were placed in Loving Wives. The stories had NOTHING to do with loving wives! I had to delete public comments on those two stories so only my note would stand stating that the story was placed in the wrong category. However, public comments that were not anonymous I took the time to reply to them about the misplaced story. Same with the e-mails that came through. Yes, it does hit a nerve for those finding, at least in my case, those stories under the Loving Wives category. For those finding them under new stories, the e-mail and feedback comes in different forms. Ironically, for all the outrage, these two stories have double the readers than any of my others. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing!

Just write your stories and post it where it should go. If it's loving wife, so be it. I have around a hundred stories or so posted there. The comments are someting else. The readers don't like cheaters, especially the wife. Make sure they villains (cheaters) pay for their actions.

Sit back and enjoy the comments. I have a lot of H's in loving wifes. It is in the top three most read categories.
Good Luck
