Hey there guys gals and non-binary pals, I'm trying to find some clarification about content guidelines. I've had stuff rejected before because it had themes of snuff and dismemberment. If that's the case fine, but what about mentions of it? Like one character telling another about a previous time of extreme violence. I want to know what's expected of me before I put it in this recording.

Maybe if it was in a context that clearly condemned it? Otherwise, no.

All allowed - I’ve personally written a series containing a very sadistic murderer - you just need to ensure any sex and any violence are clearly separated

I have published several stories here with heinous scenes, including mention of dismemberment.

As others have mentioned, the context in which the violence is mentioned must be entirely non-sexually related.

I've written a disembowlment, harakiri style. No sexual connotations, and his head gets taken back to the castle on a stake.

"Snuff" is one of those terms with multiple meanings, but generally the rule here is you cant write a gratuitous murder scene with the idea of it being sexually gratifying.

We could debate what constitutes "snuff" in a story for ages and probably never reach a consensus.

As have other authors here, I've written violent, gory scenes of death and murder. I wrote a horror story where a female zombie castrated her male victim with her mouth. And my She-Demon character Cozbi has done all kinds of nasty things, including eating an attempted rapist's tongue and forcing a necrophiliac to set his own balls on fire.

But none of these scenes were presented as sexually gratifying or titillating.

So the answer is yes, you can write graphic violence scenes. But if you're doing it in the context of glorifying it in any sexual way or that the violence in question is something the perpetrator of said violence gets off to, you're probably going to have issues.
