Questioning one's humanity

I'm not a regular visitor, but Vice makes some interesting short films. They are often raw and profane in subject matter, but it is more informative than titillating. On occasion, it is downright fascinating, such as when they did a roughly 8-part series on a biannual weapons expo in the Middle East where all your usual tinpot dictators go to buy their military hardware.

Well, this time, it hits (somewhat) closer to here. Cannibalism is brought up here and there on these boards as a big fringe topic, usually with people hollering that it is not BDSM related (I agree with this), and I do not consider this video, "Interview with a Cannibal" to be BDSM-related at all. Nothing this man, Issei Sagawa, did was consensual. It was murder and necrophilia followed by cannibalism.

So why am I posting this link? Because often times we find ourselves questioning our sanity, our morality, our sense of ethics, even our humanity in light of our somewhat darker sexual desires. I like to restrain my partner, that one over there gets off on simulated rape, this other one likes choking. This causes us to sometimes wonder what is wrong with our internal wiring.

The man in this video is wrong. His wiring is atrociously fouled. His brain is broken, and he is an abomination as a result. I am linking this video to set the range. If my brain/soul/etc is darker than my vanilla neighbors, and somehow less moral/ethical/human as a result, Issei Sagawa, whose sexual fantasies drove him to murder and cannibalism, shows that I am closer to human than I am to monster.

The video includes shots of the photos he took of the mutilated corpse of his victim, and includes some truly unpleasant imagery and discussion. If you have a sensitive temperment, I advise you to avoid the link, and satisfy your curiosity with his name and wikipedia.

Maybe... for about three or four minutes, or as long as it takes to type our kink into Google.

Google (and the internet) didn't even exist when I was 'initiated' into all of this (for lack of a better term). I just figured it felt incredible, there was no real harm being done, so it was all good. :D

yeah, same here.

In fact, at our munch on Sunday, the Oldest Kink Citizen was holding forth about all these whippersnappers and how it was better in OUR DAY when we had to go through hell before we found one of the very few very secret societies, by which time we really knew what we were.

I hate that shit. I spent nearly thirty years knowing good and well what I was, and NOT finding any of those speshul clubs. I have never had a single wank fantasy that wasn't kinked to hell, never had a single vanilla fuck where something wasn't playing out in my head. I never got anyone to go further than some rope (which I fucked up from ignorance and hurt a girl's wrist pretty severely) and an attempt at a caning.

I found leather in the mid nineties because IML was anything but secretive.

And I am very grateful for the internet. I am very happy for this generation of kinksters who will be able to work their shit out with some understanding.

Can I get an amen? Oh hell yeah! :D

(One of my lingering childhood memories is playing whatever historic thing we were playing, being captured and tied to a tree in the yard, and holding onto the ropes to keep the illusion going even when the loose knots had come apart.)

Yes! so disappointing... ;)

Lol! Preach on Stella!

I think about how I had the learn the questions I wanted to know about reading medical texts in the library.

Getting to the OP's question about cannibalism. Humans are animals. Yes biologically we evolved, but basically we have the same instincts. Sometimes some people's brain functions get screwed. Look at how many children now have autism, ADHD, ADD. As science grows we can recognize more and more symptoms that we just used to pass off as the "weird kid" down the street.

Kind of reminds me of what happened the other day. I have 2 dogs. Chow German Shepard and a lab mix. Both have never been out door sports dogs. More of the snore on your floor dogs. The other day they chased down a rabbit and killed it in our back yard. They are domestic in every way. I let my son climb all over them. But that primitive brain function took over and they killed.

I think the best thing about being human is we get to use our highly developed brain to bring ourselves pleasure. I think it's other humans who tell us what they think is wrong.

Ok ramble over.

Jesus effing christ. I had read about this guy before, but forgotten. At least he is on the far side of town from me - they said Tokyo but I think technically he's in Kanagawa. I watched the whole video. I feel REALLY sorry for that AV star. I hope they paid for her therapy.

More thoughts on the rest when I recover from watching the video.

Those VICE films, I have a very uneasy relationship to them. And it's not because it's graphic.

I watched all of them of a night, the ones on Netflix, kind of like a well fed white westerner watching a car pileup on the road of the globe - there's a shit ton of cannibalism in their Liberia segment. I simultaneously think the only one these douchebags had the right to make was the "how to have fun in Poland" one and then I simultaneously realize that these hipster douchebags have more unmitigated sack than most of the "best" so-called journalists.

I find absolutely no kink connection, however, sorry. I don't consider every possible intersection of violence and sexuality to reflect on me, personally.

I missed the moral lesson part.

I think the connection here is to Vore, not BDSM. I don't consider Vore to be a subset of BDSM at all, any more than giantism etc. It's a separate fetish.

Hey Netzach, I just saw your sig, hee hee! :)

It's gold I tell you!

I have very little humanity after the things I have done, so this thread is right up my alley!
You seem to be very unhappy about something. One wonders if it's something that is not illegal, like cheating on your husband, or almost not illegal like fucking someone a month before they turn eighteen, or if it's something that's punishable by law like stealing your mother's social security checks or killing your baby.

Nothing illegal, just very immoral.
I am unconvinced of your inhumanity. Unless you were the CEO of Walmart or Bank of America, but those people don't think they've done anything immoral.

ETA, your terse replies aroused my curiosity. I started wondering if you were a troll, or a spammer because some of them can hide a link in a post with just a few unlinked words. So I went searching. You, evidently, fucked around with a married person, and that persons' spouse found out, and now they are divorced. You seem to believe you were the sole and only terrible culprit for someone else's life-altering misery. You seem to believe that no one else in the scenario had any choices in the matter, or will ever have a chance to better themselves.

First, your situation has nothing much to do with the subject of this thread. This is the BDSM forum, and this topic is pretty perennial-- "what kind of monsters hit people and like it?"

Secondly, have you ever heard of scrupulosity?
