Question..

I normally do a very different type of subject, but it feels like this is the fitting place to play with some of this. I'm not sure this scanned terribly well, but here you go.

They're very passionate and sexy. The contrast on the first one is very poor on my phone, but the second one is better.

Can you describe your technique? They look like photos that have been highly digitised with some kind of filter / effect. If they are pen / pencil sketches, then I apologise - I am looking at them on a 4" phone screen.

They're charcoal and watercolor with a touch of pen and ink. :) I normally do color work in my watercolors, but I thought these look better in black and white.

It is damned impressive. I can barely draw to save my fucking life, though as I'm looking a lot of it might be helped if I had a professional paint program instead of muddling through with colored pencils.

I know personally my lack of art skill and a rather strict (odd for me I know) interpretation of the Lit picture rules has kept me from going to heavily into the illustrated stories which I would like. I'm kind of the opposite I might add from your typical writer. I don't think writing is superior to comics and movies for a number of reasons but at the moment the biggest being I don't want you imagining the world as you see fit. I want you seeing exactly what I'm seeing. If I'm seeing Halle Berry and you're seeing Vivia A Fox then I have failed in my job. Art helps tremendously with that.

Thank you. I think I like the idea of having an outlet for the work I don't show most people.
I love life drawing but I still struggle a bit with scale. Watercolors make that easier.
I'd love to see a thread something like what I proposed but I didn't want to start one if there already was one.
There's a lot to look at here ;)

Like I said I can't really speak for anybody else but personally I'd love to have that kind of resource available. Hell it's half the reason why I hang around on deviant art and make sure to say hi to people who's art I like because I have found a lot of those people are willing to work rather cheap in the grand scheme of things.

In case you weren't aware, you're very talented. Please, please, please don't tuck your talent away on other people's threads where it will be lost. Be brave. Own up to your gift and show the world. There will be assholes - there always are - but there will be more who thank you for sharing.

Please (really, please!) post your art to the Erotic Art Hub on the Stories side of Lit. Forums are fine, but content gets lost in a short space of time. You're obviously a regular on the forums, so when you post engaging and provocative questions like this, new people will be able to easily go back and find your art.

Now let me turn your idea around. What if the story came first? Would you draw a still from a story you enjoyed? Or create a book cover image?

What about a one for one deal? :) I'll put a story to your picture, and you do a cover for my next book.

I hadn't seen the erotic art hub, I only say the erotic illustrations part, I'll certainly look over there more as well.
I could probably create images from stories I enjoyed.
And your proposal sounds like fun. :)

It's called "Erotic Art" on the menu (Rubi linked it earlier in this thread), but the header once you get in there is Erotic Art Hub.

And I've so wanted to say this on Lit since I first saw the Personals forum: PM Sent! :-D

If anyone's still interested, I did a little collaboration with the OP

Art: Kiss Me Like That, charcoal, pen & watercolour sketch, by NextDoorSecret
Text: Jenna's Choice, by Belinda LaPage.

I enjoyed the experiment. Recommended. Would do it again.

ObTopic: My much-maligned story Right Under His Eyes was directly inspired by the non-salacious James Thurber cartoon described at the end. Ah, got it right here. Yeah, I merely switched genders. I tend to be more inspired by cartoons than by static more-or-less-realistic images.

Would do it again... and did.

Just listed a new poem based on NextDoorSecret's art (find link above). Once again, thanks to Lyricalli for editing my crap down to a poem.
