I'll try anything that feels good and is safe. Even with
an enema, isn't there a possibility of Ecoli contamination?

But, being a nurse, I can say how unhealthy this practice really is. Shower/no shower, enema/no enema... it's still not the safest sexual practice. You can become ill from it. But, like I said, I don't want to rain on the parade because I've done it to someone and have had it done to me.

It is clear that vaginal contamination with any fecal

I've never personally seen anyone come down with anything from rimming, but, from what I've read, the most common problem is something similar to food poisoning. Upset stomach, nausea, vomitting... things of that nature. Feces is full of bacteria and we all know that bacteria isn't a good thing. And, you can be the cleanest person in the world and wash that area 50 times a day and it still won't get rid of all the germs down there. The anus is meant to dispose of the compacted food and other things in your body and to stick a tongue in there, well, after knowing all I know about, I can safely say I wouldn't do it to someone again or ask to have it done to me no matter how nice it really does feel.

We've engaged in this quite extensively but we've been monogamous for over 30 years as well, so maybe our case isn't typical. We've never gotten ill, but we usually play in the shower first and both take care to use the opportunity both for fun and for hygene with subsequent activities in mind. I guess with a new partner there is some basis for concern. If you're really worried, the soft pad side of a fingertip with a good lube can be nearly as exciting if just worked all around that sensitive tissue around and just inside against the first ring of resistant muscle. Might be better safe than sorry, but no need for total abstinence as I see it.
