Is there a way to correct the order of the stories on my Refurbished story series in the correct order? Right now it’s in he order it was published from what I can see.

Here’s the link
https://www.literotica.com/authors/WhoDunIt77/works/stories?sort=name

And the order should be as follows

1. Refurbished
2. Refurbished-The Next Volunteer
3. Refurbished-Testing in 3..2..GUAAAAHHHH!!!!
4. Refurbished-The Meeting
5. Refurbished-Their First Time
6. Refurbished-The Next Day
7. Refurbished-The Offer
8. Refurbished-The Next Project.

Any help here will be appreciated!

Create a manual series in your control panel. You can then arrange the stories however you like within it. Putting them into that series should remove them from any automatic series they're in. If you add the optional description of the series, or any 'cover' art, those can take up to several weeks to be published.

Go to "Series (Beta)" on your home page and create a series. Under "Works Sort Order" select Manual and arrange them in the order you want them.

It will take a bit for the series to be approved.

I have done that but it still come up out of order, but that has been recently done, will that take time to correct then?

Oh, wow! Thanks for the heads up!

I will be more careful with how I post any future stories too then.
The site automatically connects chapters together if you title stories like this:

Story Title
Story Title Ch.02
Story Title Ch.03

or

Story Title - Annie
Story Title - Betty
Story Title - Charlie

It's an alphanumeric sequence, you don't have to do anything except publish at least two chapters. You don't need to number the first chapter, the software picks up on Ch.02. The leading zero is recommended, so the numbering doesn't get cocked up when you get to chapter 10.

For everyone's sake, never contemplate a hundred chapters, but if you do, number them 002, 003 and so on.

If you have any other naming sequence, you'll have to raise a Manual Series.

See my story page for different examples of story chaptering.

Thanks, I will check that out!

And if you create a manual series, you can do it beforehand, without publishing even your first chapter, so the 2-3 weeks of moderation time shouldn't be too disruptive.

Once you submit more chapters, you can elect for them to be in the series directly in the submission form; they will be added immediately upon publication. Reordering I think is also instantaneous, because why wouldn't it be, but I haven't tried it myself.

I reckon you're right. If the Series has been started and approved, you can add to it straight away.

My latest two chapters have their own auto-chaptering, and they're also part of a longer Series. So readers can find them twice.

Just a comment for people in my situation:

I have a series which will ultimately have a part added, but not at the end. What's presently Chapter 04 will have to be re-named as Chapter 05 so that the new part can go in at the 04 place. This will require a title edit request at the same time as the new story submission.

Have you thought about titling the new chapter 4a or 4.5

This is the information that I've been looking for. Thank you for posting it.

A couple of questions though...

1. If the second hyphenated option is used then I'm sure the first chapter needs to be hyphenated as well, right?

2. If you submit the first chapter then the second months later (and submit other unrelated stories in those months in between) will it still group them together on your "Works" list so others see them as being together?

3. I've seen on other authors "Works" lists that the chapters are grouped in order but there is a primary listing with the series name. Something like...

Bill Jones. A story about Bill Jones

Bill Jones - Chapter 1
Bill Jones - Chapter 2
vvv etc., etc., etc., vvv

How do you create the primary listing? (Bill Jones. A story about Bill Jones) Is it by using the Manual option mentioned earlier?

You have to spell all of it out. The only thing the site automates is the inclusion in an auto series and the ordering according to alphanumeric rules. It doesn't add name parts or numerals to your story title, so, just spell the whole thing out yourself when you submit it.

Did I understand your question correctly?

No. The algorithm picks up the character string being the same. "Story Title" is the common string, while "- Ch.02 " is the alphanumeric sort.

Correct.

Correct. The Series function allows you a separate title. I have a series called The Emma and Bobbie Stories, but I don't have a story titled Emma and Bobbie.

Thank you for that. It makes me want to submit the first chapter before I get all the others finished. I have a detailed outline as the chapters follow a loose story arc, but can be read as stand alone stories. Reading them in order would give more clarity to the character development I'm hoping to achieve, but wouldn't be necessary to enjoy each chapter individually.
