whenever I start to write a story, I end up getting way too turned on and stop writing, to go masturbate. then afterwards, I'm not in the mood to write any more erotica. Does anyone else run into this? How should I deal with this? Just pick up where I left off the next time I'm in the mood?

Maybe you should agree with yourself that orgasm is not permitted until you have written 1000+ words and reached an appropriate scene end.

A more extreme suggestion would be to lock yourself in chastity for predetermined period of time.

I think this is the third person in the last ten days or so with some version of the "can't finish/writer's block" issue. Maybe there should be one big FAQ about the topic and the ways to deal with different versions of it.

You can buy chastity devices online but I'm not otherwise that familiar with them. Then there is the issue of giving the key (they do have keys, I assume) to some trusted person for a specified period of time.

Or do they have electronic releases like those that are on car doors now?

One can always take the 'In the Realm of the Senses' solution. I don't recommend it, though.

This one's different, though. It's not so much writer's block as the refractory issue. Some of the discussions on the forum about men eating their own cum are entertaining.

Plenty of ideas in self-bondage stories here on Lit.
1. Freeze the key inside a block of ice: Sure, you can get it out of the ice any time you like, but it's a whole process. (*)
2. Leave the key in a safe place away from home - same caveat as above.

ETA(*): You could go for the whole self-bondage route: Chain yourself to the desk, the key in ice but out of reach, but once the ice melts, the key falls into reach, and you can free yourself.

I'll take your word for it; I'm not going to actually read those stories. All worthy ideas, perhaps, but a bit complicated. It might be better if this person either: 1. practiced some self-control or, failing that, 2. just got back into the mood to write afterwards. However this person has been here for a year already and this is the first time we've heard from them. I'm curious to hear what, if anything, they have to say next.

Could you enlighten us on what that is? I've never never seen the movie, but I've read about it. I suppose you mean the part where she strangles him and then walks around with his severed penis inside herself?

I would say you should go by this advice, and best if you focused on the latter part of it.

AKA: Reach an ending before you reach your ending.

You don't have to finish the story before you finish your glory, but get to some temporary plot conclusion before you conclude your porn delusions. Make sure to clutter some pages before you give in to your rages.

It's something like that. I've only made it halfway through the film, which is based on a famous Japanese case, and was controversial for showing actual sex.

A permanent solution to a temporary problem.

I simply read about it online, which saved me the task of actually seeing it. And yes, it was based on a real case. My take on that women - and the whole incident - was that it wasn't erotic but rather psychotic.

I've also heard about the real sex being filmed. As Laurence Olivier once said, in a completely different context, "Haven't they heard of 'acting?' "

Yes, it's not writer's block per se, but he is having trouble writing anyway. Do you mean "refractory" is the sense of "being difficult to treat?" Without knowing him, I'd advise him to just get a coffee or a juice or something, relax for a half-hour, and then get back to the task.

I'm still curious to see if a response ever come through from him. With only one post in more than a year, it's not looking too likely.

Most men, after orgasm, experience low sexual arousal immediately after orgasm. Thus, what excites them in the climb, disgusts them after the fall. The idea of swallowing cum, for example: a man might come to the fantasy of eating his own cum, but having produced cum to eat no longer desires to do so.

I'll take your word on all that, although it's not quite the original poster's problem. Or maybe it is in that he can't write about sex after experiencing a self-induced version of it. If he doesn't respond (I'm making an assumption about this person's gender), than I can't do anything more to help him.

Hark, I hear a voice calling my name! Ah yes, I am intimately familiar with this phenomenon. Wish I had an answer for you but I think it is simply part of the territory. Nothing to do but deal with it: idea, wording the idea, creating characters, fashioning scenes, can't resist, gotta masturbate.... oops! Ew yuck! What was I thinking writing... that?! Oh christ, no no no. But the cycle always starts anew. Just gotta wait it out. If I ever find a better way to deal with it I'll let you know.

Not sure its all about getting disgusted after the fall. An orgasm is like any other rush, you come down after it in general.
TMI warning on following
My trick on the weekends is I'm revved in the morning, and my wife-not a morning person-will usually take it for the team, even occasionally uttering some sexy phrases like "do I have to move?" but afterwards I head downstairs, make some coffee and I can immediately hit the keys fast and in flow because I already took the edge off and nothing I'm going to write is going to get me that crazed over the next couple of hours cause....look, I'm not 25 anymore...

The way you've described your issue is EXACTLY how it happens for me too.
If I'm not in that mood anyway then I just can't write which is why my writing has always come in bursts followed by longish periods with nothing.
The way I get past it is I kinda mentally treat the writing as a type of foreplay so on that basis I need to prolong it so I do have the odd play whilst I'm writing but the minute it starts feeling like I'm getting close to the edge so to speak. I leave myself well alone and just write.
