I realized I was out of my mind after two MMPI tests. One came up as perfectly sane, the other came up as sociopathic. Does this mean I'm a multiple personality?

The upside, when you lose your mind, you don't have to share the pizza.

Or was it when I caught myself singing along with the Macarena and I knew all the words?

I think there were several times I realized I was out of my mind; like when all the people in the grocery store were staring at me, and I realized it was because I was arguing out loud with my self about which box of condoms to buy; Or the time I was making naked snow angles and realized I was perfectly sober; Or maybe it's those times when I'm just sitting some where and suddenly get all hyper and start laughing like a hyeena because absolutely nothing is funny. hummm... I thought at one time about being a psychology major, but then I realized that they'd find me out and take me away. That and every time I read about a different mental disorder, I kept thinking, hey, that's me!

I was always the designated lunatic in my family. My behavior was the mark by which the rest of my siblings' sanity was measured. I've always been a 'mad scientist' kind of loony. My parents used to find my ongoing chemistry experiments in the kitchen all the time. Though the 'fun with thermodynamics' phase was a bonding experience for us, I think the phase that disturbed them most was my brief stint with taxidermy.

But I gave all that up to take up writing. Which brings to mind a phone conversation I had with my mother recently.

Mother: What are you going to do with your life?
Me: I'm thinking of becoming a horror writer.
Mother: *long pause* Well, I hope you choose writer.
