One way might be the Social way. Favorite/comment on others' work, participate in (forum) discussions, and make good art. I think with quality comes feedback which attracts more views, etc.
I agree with 29wordsforsnow: Like actors, most artists are a bit self selfish and seek feedback from others. I spurns me on to do more, in a better way. I get a number of likes and am happy that I am heading in the right direction. I am no longer commercially dependent on my art- have enough to do - but leave time for personal work and maybe the occasional request from another poster.
