Since I am not allowed access at either Awards & Contests OR Author's Hangout, I must ask here...

Around the beginning of Jan. I asked to know which holidays had story writing contests, but I never got an answer. I see, now, that there was a Valentine's contest. How early (AND WHERE?!?!!?) were people notified of this contest? And, what other holidays are included in the contests and what is needed to submit a story FOR a contest???

Hi Tiggs!

You should be able to access both of the forums you mentioned. If you can't, PM me with details and I'll try to figure out what's going wrong. As for the contests, we don't have an iron-clad contest schedule. We've been announcing them in the Author's Hangout sort of spur-of-the-moment. I don't know what holidays will be included next, so any suggestions are definitely appreciated - i.e. St. Patricks Day, etc.

St Patricks day is an ideal holiday for stories about drunken orgies. there should definitely be a contest for St Pat's Day.

As for announcements, Perhaps they should be announced here and in the site announcements forum to attract new authors, as well as the contests and author's forums?

With copy/paste being a Godsent, this is not a bad idea. It would help hopeful new authors (who may never "leave" the Gen board) or "tech nerds" ( ) who check the Site Announcements often as well.
