Has there ever been a hurricane that is about to take the path Fiona is? What kind of population numbers are we talking about?

Yes, Newfoundland and Labrador and The Maritimes have been hit several times. Often with substantial damage. The path is a bit odd as they usually slide up the US coast then curve east and give a glancing blow. This one could be more direct.

Wiki shows at least 30 Hurricanes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canada_hurricanes

Population of the Maritimes is somewhere around 2 million.

Agreed. We have it pretty good in Canada.

A few hours without juice once every few years is a pretty high standard compared to the rest of the world.

You can’t even get reliable cell coverage in most American cities.
I haven't been without power since 2006. Well every so often I trip the breaker and have to reset it....

Your problem in canada will be unreliable sun, little sun in winter when you need the most power due to your winter, and heating is very power hungry.
You don't have a fucking clue. I've been off grid since 2006, and none of the above is true, not even remotely.

Ehich part is not true? Do uou address it?
All of it is untrue, as a whole. Which I already stated, and proved by my own experience. Off grid for 16 years, no power failures, no heating or cooling problems....
Your daylight hours are not short in winters? the sun is not low in the sky? Both with reduce power generation
Daylight hours average around 8 hr in winter, to 16 hr in the summer......what is your point, solar has nothing to do with the hours of sun, it has to do with the wattage generated during those hours, and the storage of that power.
Heating is not power hungry?
Sure heat is power hungry....so too is cooling. Are you that naive that you can't figure out how to generate enough power to fill the required load?
Your F words I will not address as they only show your character and your lack of breeding, and the fact that your mother did not wash your mouth out frequently enough
Fuck you, and your mother......lol....you keep your condescending attitude in your head, I won't bother wasting my time replying with vulgarity.
if you think foul language makes you sound like some kind of 'gangsta', it does not. It only makes you sound ill bred.
Again fuck you. Come back with some education on renewables, then we can chat. Maybe then I'll not have to cuss out your stupidity. BTW if you doubt my credibility, go research my posts, perhaps you'll find the one or two in which I discuss what I am educated for and what I do for a living...

Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland was hit by a 30 foot storm surge, which took several homes and swallowed a 73 year old woman.

Most Newfoundland outport villages are far more remote… Port Aux Basques is considered a big, important town by comparison.

Storm Surge and Tidal Waves are becoming more common around the world.

In 1929, a large swath of Newfoundland coastal communities were wiped out by what they call a “ great big sea” down that way.
