Question about toothache....

Toothaches come from an infection in the nerve of the tooth. If your dentist is just giving you pain meds, he's not treating the underlying problem, which is infection. Call his rich ass right now and get him out of bed to get you some penicillin.

At the very least tell him on no uncertain terms tomorrow, "I need some antibiotics."

Well, I will tell her tomorrow that something has to be done. It can't go on like that. Plus I already seriously consider changing the dentist. Then again I'll move away in two months anyways.

snoop..i had an infection and damn it hurt to buggery *L* I got anti biotics but it took 2 or 3 days to really get working. I still had to take painkillers too and well i hope it'snot an infection hun *hugs* hope the dentist really gets you sorted this time.

And show your disatisfaction with having to be back so soon. I would!

Thnx to all the lovely people who cared during the night. I went back to bed but didn'T get a single minute of sleep. :(

So my teeth?

I got two words for you......root-treatment.

Well, I have been to the dentist again and she said it would be infected nerves. So she suggested a root-treatment. BUT here's the catch. She couldn't 100% say which one of two teeth the problem teeth-was. So she left me with two options. a.) wait a couple of days with painkillers and hope that then it would be more obvious which one was causing the pain. b.) do the root-treatment now with the risk of doing the wrong tooth. I chose option b because the sole thought of another sleepless night under pain was too much. So she took the more obvious tooth and ripped the nerves out. So far it hurts just a little (normal after a root-treatment). Now I can only hope that it was the right tooth. But she gave me some pills, just in case.
I really have to make up some sleep because I got NONE the other day. NONE. You can imagine how I perform at work today. :)

Anyways, I'm better now, not perfect but better. I hope it stays this way.

Hope it is the right tooth Snoops love  and I hope you do sleep tonight.

Otherwise I'm coming over there and yelling at that damn dentist for all the pain you've been put through!

I'm going to disagree with Dr. Shepherd's diagnosis. I’ve had so much work done, I could probably save money by doing my own root canals by now if I could just get someone to hold the mirror and give me the novocaine.

Most toothaches are not caused by infections in the nerve or gum. When that happens, it’s called an abscess and it hurts like hell: throbbing, knife-in-the-jaw pain. Abscesses have to be drained first by punching a little hole in the gum over them. I know it sounds awful but it’s not, and the relief is sweet and immediate. Tooth decay is of course a kind of infection, but antibiotics will do nothing about it.

Does your gum hurt around the tooth? Is it bright pink and hot? If so you might have an abscess, though your dentist probably would have seen that in x-ray.

If your gum doesn't hurt, then you've got a toothache, and toothaches are caused by irritation of the nerve. That can be from all kinds of things: decay reaching the nerve (root canal time), a cracked tooth, trauma, such as having a tooth worked on so much that it gets loose in its socket (That’s happened to me a couple times. It’ll tighten up again), hypersensitivty to hot or cold or even sweets.

In Snoopy’s case, it sounds like that decay was so deep that the dentist was working right next to the nerve, and I’ll bet the nerve got inflamed and will take time to settle down. Anti-inflammatories will help, or if it still hurts get the dentist to give you something with codeine.

Screw it. There’s nothing noble about a toothache.

Hey that was quite a god analysis. Well, the good news is, I have been without pain for the day. I hope this will last. It hurt a little bit when the narcotic faded but it was just a bit. Now the pain is completely away. Maybe it WAS the right tooth after all.

If not, I got some medication from my dentist, just in case.

:D Thnx for that. I bet you would show her. Well, actually I can't be too mad with her, I guess she did what seemed logic at the time. It was just bad luck. But when it happens to be that she deadened the wrong nerves today, then I'm gonna be a bit angry. Because she said she can't tell which tooth it is. But that is her job, isn't it? And even if she couldn'T tell precisely, what kind of advice is, 'We'll wait two days, then we hope the pain will be distinguishable so we know which tooth it is.' What the....

Good for you Snoop's.

Now the Dentist, what was she wearing?
Did she have her way with you while you were under anaestetic?

I wish she had. How could you guess my fantasies???

Actually she is not that attractive, but everyone who knows me a bit knows that I'd get it on with every girl in my reach and age. (and probably also older women)
