Does anyone know what type of side effects this is supposed to have? I took my first dose this morning, and I've been having cold sweats, headaches, nausea, and vomiting all day. I still have one more to take in a little bit. Is this normal? The Dr. didn't really say anything about the side effects, so I was wondering if this was normal, and if so, how long will it last? Is there anything (besides the normal stuff like Pepto) that I can do to relieve the symptoms??

Please HELP ME. I feel like shit :(.

I haven't actually had it, but my sister went through the same thing that you are. It will settle down before you know it.

They actually say that if you are sick on the Morning after pill you will get morning sickness when pregnant ... That did happen with her first but this time around she has brezzed through.

Good Luck :)

Sounds normal to me. Do a search on the Internet for birth control information- most sites contain info about the morning after pill. From what I remember reading, the side effects you describe are right on the money.

I felt totally nauseous and sick when I took it (both times I took it!)

And wait a minute... SEXY ... YOU should not be posting this thread! Is this from your encounter? You were supposed to use protection, were you not? Don't make me come over there sistah! ;)

Thank You so much, girls for posting... helped a lot.

And Jade~ First laugh all night. Thanks! I needed that!

To answer your question... we did use protection... the first 12 times, but then we ran out of condoms:) Hee hee.. just kidding!

Really though, we didn't use protection because I've been told that I most likely will not be able to have children.
He pulled out every time anyway, just in case, and I did this just to be safe rather than sorry, ya know?

As far as STD's and that go, we both had been checked prior to our meeting, so I think I'm pretty safe there.

Thanks again! Luv you :)
(Oh God. I'm getting mushy. It must be the hike in hormones. I apologize for my sappiness :))

My experiences

Well, Unfortunately I've had more than one relationship with our good friend emergency contraception. The first time i fely really sick to my stomach the whole day, and very uncomfortable. The next was no problem, and the mosr recent I felt all sick again. I was protected everytime, but I have in credibly bad luck with condoms. They always seem to end up off of him and deep inside me.

So, Now I guess I need to start a thread debating the best methods of birth control. We'll see what the jury says.

SEXY REDHEAD:

AWE!!! I LUV YOU TOO!

Hey Sexy-never believe a prognosis of may not be able to beome pregnant-I concieved my daughter whilst on birth control pills that were taken religiously...my son was concieved after a miscarriage-when we had been informed that without intervention we were probably not going to concieve naturally. As for STD's HPV is hard to spot and is extremely contagious,it is not serious in itself(virus that causes warts) but in my case has led to cervical lesions-which resulted in a biopsy and months of worry...I now need to have paps done every three months until I have a normal reading. I have read in a study done by Johns Hopkins that HPV is definitely linked to the developement of cervical cancer-99o/o of the patients with cervical cancer in their study had HPV...please excuse my rant, and the HPV stats only apply to genital warts...which I had never been told I had-doing some detective work I found out my daughter's father had a wart removed in 1986 and had never mentioned it, and thus exposed me-fun fun fun-I have now exposed all my partners...my dear husband has also been diagnosed, most probably thanks to me. I still have not had any outbreaks but I have it,and will for the rest of my life.
There is no cure-all I can do is boost my immune system and hope that I don't have an outbreak. But due to my carelessness,I now carry a virus that could signifigantly increase my risk of cervical cancer.
Actually even condoms do not offer complete protection, virus' can live on the hands, and surrounding skin.
Sorry Sexy-did not mean to be a downer, and I feel bad since your weekend sounded great-but please take it from me-use protection.

Another question...

Can you get the "morning after" pill at any drug store or Planned Parenthood (or is it Dr. perscription only)? I wouldn't mind taking one myself... (And no, it's not Hungry Man's "fault" so don't jusmp his case!) :)

You're not being a downer, Earthgoddess! You're being a friend. Thank you so much for the information... where else would I have learned about that? I know I should be more careful... and I'm going to be from now on.

Tiggs... You have to have a prescription, but I think Planned Parenthood is also allowed to give them out (don't Dr.'s work there??). Hope your experience will be better than mine (or should I say "ours!")!!

And Jade... Hugs and Kisses sweetie :)

Good Heavens EarthGoddess!

I'm almost certain they're meant to be taken orally! Praying over the damn things probably just won't get the job done!

The other STD you can pick up is Hepatitis. Several types and C is a nasty one. I hope you will reconsider the need for a condom.

Hey, Red Headed One, did you know that pulling out is not an effective meand of contraception? There can be active, live sperm in pre-seminal fluid, so be careful. Use a condom!

hehehe-now why didn't anyone tell me that-thank you Gil-seriously though I was taking them orally but they were the wrong dosage and I was not seeing a dr. on a regular basis-soooo...bottom line use a condom...thank you and good night-
